**Update – Operator Dies From Injuries** Troopers Investigate Serious Crash- Dagsboro

Dagsboro, DE- A 87-year-old female driver has died as a result of the injuries she sustained in a June 12, 2016 crash near Dagsboro.

Ruth N. Elvey, 87 of Dagsboro, was initially transported to Beebe Healthcare before being flown to Christiana Medical Center where she died Saturday June 18, 2016

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and no charges have been filed at this time.

Troopers Investigate Serious Crash – Dagsboro 

Dagsboro, DE- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash which occurred this afternoon just east of Dagsboro.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred at approximately 1:55 p.m. today, Sunday, June 12, 2016, as Mary E. Bradshaw, 88, of Dagsboro, was operating a 2008 Mercury Sable, and was traveling in an eastbound direction on Vines Creek Road (SR 26), approaching the intersection of Falling Point Road (CR 341), Dagsboro. As Bradshaw reached the intersection, she failed to see a 2012 Kia Forte, which was stopped directly in front of her, and which was being operated by Ruth N. Elvey, 87, of Dagsboro. The front of Bradshaw’s vehicle then struck the rear of the Kia. After the impact, both vehicles exited the south edge of the roadway where they came to rest.

Ruth Elvey, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics. She was then transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare before being air-lifted to the Christiana Hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.

Mary Bradshaw was also properly restrained at the time of the crash. She was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics before being transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare where she was admitted with non-life threatening injuries. 

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
