Troopers Investigate Robbery of Lampost Liquors, Newark

Newark, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of an area liquor store which occurred Sunday evening.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2016, as a male suspect, armed with an unknown type handgun, entered the Lampost Liquor store located at 1144 Christiana Road, Newark. The suspect approached a male employee at the counter and demanded money. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then exited the store and fled in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured.

The suspect was described as a white male, 6’00” – 6’03” tall, 200-220 lbs., with his face covered. No further physical or clothing description is available at this time. He was armed with unknown type handgun.

This incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police. No video surveillance photos are available to be released at this time.
