Troopers Arrest Man Following String of Robberies

Wilmington, DE- Delaware State Police Robbery Unit Detectives have arrested a Wilmington man following a string of robberies he had committed since late last month.

On Monday, June 6, 2016, detectives arrested Joseph A. Rosado, 21, of Wilmington, and charged him in connection with five armed robberies which he had committed in New Castle County beginning on May 20, 2016. At approximately 1:50 p.m. yesterday, Rosado entered the Artisan’s bank branch located at 4901 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington. He then approached two female tellers, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from their cash drawers. Both tellers complied with Rosado’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him. He then exited the bank where he fled to a waiting car, however, Rosado had locked himself out of the car, and was unable to gain entry. He then fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later after being involved in a foot pursuit with an officer of the New Castle County Police Department in the development of Limestone Acres. Evidence was located on Rosado linking him to the robbery of the bank.

Joseph Rosado was arrested transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with 6 counts of Robbery 1st Degree, 6 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, 6 counts of Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, and Criminal Mischief. He was arraigned at JP Court 11 and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for lack of $501,100.00 secured bail.

Detectives also linked Rosado to the following armed robberies:

  1. BP, 601 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, on Friday, May 20, 2016.
  2. Cigarette Outlet, 757 Pulaski Highway, Bear, on Saturday, May 21, 2016 and Tuesday, May 25, 2016.
  3. Shell, 2501 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington, Thursday, May 26, 2016.
