**Update-Name Correction** State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash – Sandtown

Sandtown – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into the fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian.

The incident occurred around 9:07 p.m. Tuesday September 5, 2017 as Roger L. Coberly Jr., 35 of Felton, was walking his dog westbound on the shoulder of Willow Grove Road (SR10) east of Sandtown Road.  An unknown make and model vehicle was traveling westbound on SR10 when it struck Coberly and threw him into a tax ditch on the north side of the roadway near his residence.  The vehicle then continued westbound without stopping.

Roger Coberly was pronounced dead at the scene by Kent County Paramedics.  His dog was able to run back to the residence and was uninjured.

SR10 between Sandtown Road and Mahon Corner Road was closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  If anyone has any information in reference to this crash or the hit and run vehicle, they are asked to contact Sergeant J.
