Two Arrested and One Sought Following Shooting Investigation near Magnolia

Magnolia – Troopers have arrested two and are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of a third in an overnight investigation into a Magnolia area shooting complaint.

The incident occurred around 12:35 a.m. Thursday June 22, 2017, when a 9-1-1 call was received from a female at a residence in the 400 block of Cherry Drive East, Paris Villa Development stating her ex-boyfriend had just driven by and shot at the house.  None of the seven people, including two other adults and four children, were injured when the gunfire took place, although the house was struck at least three times.

The Cadillac that was used in the incident was found a short time later, abandoned on Lochmeath Way.  A Camden Police Officer observed three subjects walking along the road not far from the car and when he attempted to make contact with the trio, one of the suspects, later identified as Marc A. Romano, 27 with a last known address in Newark, fled on foot.  Juan A. Matos, 19, and Jason D. Gilbert, 19, both of Philadelphia, were taken into custody without incident.

Gilbert and Matos were both transported back to Troop 3 in Camden where they were both arrested for seven counts of Reckless Endangering 1st and Conspiracy 2nd.  Matos was additionally charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.  They were arraigned at JP2 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $28,000.00 cash (Matos) and $8,000.00 secured (Gilbert) bonds.

Marc Romano, who is the female’s ex-boyfriend and believed to be the shooter, is wanted for Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, seven counts of Reckless Endangering 1st, and Conspiracy 2nd.
