*UPDATE* Barricaded Subject Surrenders Without Incident – Middletown

Middletown – The armed subject who had barricaded himself on the property at a residence located in the 1900 block of Middleneck Rd., has surrendered to police without further incident.

The male subject who was armed with a rifle, had barricaded himself in the rear yard of the property just after 6:00 a.m., this morning. He surrender to Troopers at approximately 10:54 a.m. at which time he was taken in to custody without incident.

A heavy police presence remains in the area as the investigation continues.

There were no injuries related to this incident.

In addition to DSP resources assistance was also provided by the New Castle County Police Department, Middletown Police Department, New Castle County EMS and DELDOT.

The following road closures remain in effect:

  • Middleneck Rd. between Warwick Rd. (DE 299) and Old Telegraph Rd.
  • Warwick Rd. (DE 299) between Rt. 301 (Exit 2) and the Maryland line.
