Kent County ~ On August 23, 2017, the Delaware State Police Community Outreach Unit, Mounted Patrol Unit, Troop 3 and Honorary Commanders joined together in the back to school initiative, “It’s “Cool” to go back to school.” The Delaware State Police with the help of community and clergy members visited the following areas: Meadowbrook Acre Community, Dover Air Park, Rodney Village, Alder Park and Capitol Park.

 “I’m very proud of the wonderful initiative that was undertaken today within the communities across Kent County. The men and women of the Delaware State Police Troop 3 in conjunction with the Delaware State police Community Outreach Unit and the Mounted Patrol unit along with our honorary commanders distributed ice pops to children and their families sending the positive message that’s ‘it’s cool to go back to school’. A great example of the community and police working together to strengthen our community” said, Captain Joshua Bushweller, Troop 3, Troop Commander.

In addition, visits were made to Brecknock Park and the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware. Hundreds of children were contacted and they had an opportunity to interact and socialize with the Troopers.  Freeze pops, coloring books, miniature footballs and basketballs were handed out and were a huge hit with the children.  Every child and adult contacted was very welcoming and appreciative of the effort the Delaware State Police was putting into making a positive impact in the community.
