Delaware State Police Arrest Two Individuals on Felony Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop- Seaford

Seaford- Delaware State Police arrested 26-year-old Lyn Deputy of Bridgeville, and 25-year-old Lemuel Hurst of Seaford, on felony drugs charges following a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

On March 13, 2021, at approximately 2:54 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the area of Seaford observed a white BMW 528 traveling northbound Concord Pond Road with improper window tinting. The trooper initiated a traffic stop on Dove Road and made contact with the operator identified as Lyn Deputy and front seat passenger identified as Lemuel Hurst. Upon contact the trooper smelled an odor of marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle and observed suspected drugs in plain sight.

Subsequently, troopers performed a probable cause search and discovered approximately 16.85 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 2.3 grams of heroin, approximately 5.51 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernailia, and over $700 in suspected drug proceeds.

Deputy and Hurst were taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 5 where they were charged with the following:

Lyn Deputy

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Operating a Vehicle with Improper Window Tinit
  • No Person Shall Operate an Unsafe Motor Vehicle Upon a Highway

Deputy was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $62,400 secured bond.

Lemuel Hurst

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana

Hurst was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and released after posting bail on $64,100 secured bond.
