Delaware State Police arrested 36-year-old Todd Hockensmith of Felton, Delaware for numerous felony charges on Thursday morning.

On August 31, 2023, at approximately 9:15 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to the 3000 block of Mahan Corner Road, Marydel, Delaware at the request of Caroline County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies from the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office pursued a dark green Ford Explorer from Maryland because the operator, Todd Hockensmith, was wanted on several warrants by the Sheriff’s Office. During the pursuit, Hockensmith crashed into a carport and an unoccupied Ford F150 before fleeing on foot and being apprehended by Caroline County Sheriff’s deputies. There were no injuries as a result of the crash.

A search of Hockensmith’s vehicle revealed ammunition, two concealed shotguns, stolen personal identification cards, and stolen bank cards. One of the personal identification cards was linked to a Troop 3 burglary investigation. Approximately .54 grams of suspected Psilocybin mushrooms was also located. A computer check showed Hockensmith had active warrants for burglary, theft, and other traffic offenses issued by Delaware State Police.

Hockensmith was taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
