The Delaware State Police arrested 50-year-old Larry Murray of Wilmington, Delaware for DUI and gun charges following a traffic stop in Frederica early Sunday morning.
On July 9, 2023, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a trooper patrolling Route 1 northbound in the area of Bowers Beach Road saw an orange 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted, and contact was made with the driver, identified as Larry Murray, who displayed signs of impairment. Field tests were administered, and Murray was subsequently taken into custody. Troopers searched the car and located multiple containers of alcohol and a loaded handgun concealed in a backpack within Murray’s reach. Murray is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Murray was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following offenses:
Murray was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $24,250 cash bond.
