Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year-old Aaron Cain of Wilmington, Delaware, for bringing drugs into a prison facility.
On February 25, 2023, at approximately 11:10 a.m., troopers responded to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, located at 1181 Paddock Road in Smyrna, for a drug investigation initiated by the Department of Corrections. The investigation revealed that Cain was observed passing a small, concealed object to Tyler Carter, an inmate at the facility, during a scheduled inmate visit. A search of Carter revealed approximately 29.06 grams of suspected marijuana. A search of Cain revealed 69.76 grams of suspected marijuana on his person and 7.68 grams of suspected marijuana in his vehicle. Cain was taken into custody and transported to Troop 9.
He was charged with the following crimes:
Cain was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on a $3700 secured bond.
Carter was charged with the following crimes:
Carter was also arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on his recognizance for the above charges. Carter remains in custody at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.
