Troopers Arrest Newark Man for Burglary and Related Charges- Bear

Bear- Delaware State Police arrested Robert Byerly, 29, of Newarkfor burglary and related charges following an incident in early December.

On December 14, 2021, at approximately 6:10 a.m., troopers responded to the 1800 block of Red Lion Road, Bear for a burglary complaint. The investigation determined the suspect entered a storage unit behind a residence and removed a utility trailer loaded with landscaping equipment.

Through investigative means, troopers determined Robert Byerly was the suspect. Troopers obtained a warrant for Byerly’s arrest, and on December 23, 2021, he turned himself in at Troop 2.

At Troop 2 Byerly was charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary Third Degree (Felony)
  • Theft $1,500 or Greater (Felony)- 3 counts

Byerly was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,000 secured bond.

Troopers were able to recover some of the stolen items from an area pawn shop and after executing a search warrant on a residence on Marabou Drive, Newark.
