Troopers Arrest Wilmington Man for Multiple Robbery and Burglary Charges – Newark

Newark–  The Delaware State Police arrested 23 year-old Dana Grayson of Wilmington in connection with multiple robberies and burglaries that occurred yesterday.

The incidents began on September 08, 2020, at approximately 3:06 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Shell Gas Station, located at 2410 Pulaski Hwy., Newark, for a report of a robbery.  Upon arrival, it was learned that a subject had entered the store and displayed a note demanding cash and implied he had a gun. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

The second robbery occurred on September 08, 2020 at approximately 5:32 p.m, at the Snack and Tobacco Bizarre located at 2445 Pulaski Hwy., Newark. The suspect again displayed a note demanding cash and was observed with a gun in his waistband. The victim refused to comply and the suspect fled the store without any cash.

Further investigation lead Troopers to the Glasgow Motel where they located the suspect identified as Dana Grayson, inside of a motel room wearing the same clothing as worn in the robberies. Grayson was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 2.

Investigative leads also connected Grayson to two other burglaries of nearby businesses in the early morning of September 08, 2020.

Subsequently Grayson was charged with the following:

  • Robbery 1st Degree (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Attempted Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree – 2 Counts
  • Criminal Mischief – 2 Counts

Grayson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $68,200.00 secured bond.
