Bridgeville- The Delaware State Police arrested 39 year-old Melissa Jurado for 7th Offense DUI after she was involved in a vehicle crash.
The incident occurred on August 22, 2020, at approximately 3:33 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to northbound Sussex Highway at Antique Alley, Bridgeville, in reference to a collision. Upon arrival, Troopers searched the immediate area for a female who was reported standing by the suspect vehicle in the woods. Troopers located the female on the shoulder of Sussex Highway and identified her as Melissa Jurado, who is also the registered owner of the vehicle in the collision.
Through further investigations, Jurado was determined to be the operator. Troopers made contact with Jurado who showed signs of impairment and an odor of alcohol was detected. Subsequently a DUI investigation ensued.
A computer inquiry revealed that Jurado had been charged with six previous DUIs making this her 7th offense. She was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 5 where she was charged with the following:
Jurado was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Correctional Institution on $11,320.00 cash bond.
