Harrington- The Delaware State Police charged 32-year-old DAVID A. PHILLIPS of Salisbury, MD in connection with an attempted robbery of a Valero Shore Stop.
The incident occurred on November 12, 2019 at approximately 5:19 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Valero Shore Stop located at 16381 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, Troopers met with a store manager who advised that a subject had entered the store, walked up to the register and demanded money. The manager advised the suspect that there was no money in the register at this time. The suspect never displayed a weapon and proceeded to walk out of the store without obtaining merchandise or cash. The manager was not injured as a result of this incident.
Through investigative measures, David Phillips was identified as the suspect. Phillips was being held in Maryland on unrelated charges. On August 7, 2020, he was extradited back to Delaware and turned over to Troop 3 where he was charged with Attempt to Commit Robbery First Degree (Felony). Phillips was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $5000.00 unsecured bond.
