Troopers Arrest Two Suspects For Construction Site Thefts-Sussex County

Sussex County- The Delaware State Police have arrested 46-year-old Anthony M. Cichocki and 36-year-old Brian J. Govin, both of Lewes, DE, in connection with thefts from construction sites.

Since mid April, 2020 the Delaware State Police have been investigating several thefts from construction sites and construction trailers.  On May 4, 2020, Troopers investigated a theft of a Polaris ATV at a construction site in Rehoboth Beach, that occurred sometime over the weekend. Through further investigations, the ATV was located at Cichocki’s residence within the McNichol Place Mobile Home Park.  Cichocki was taken into custody without incident and it was learned that he had a co-conspirator, Brian Govin.

Troopers responded to Govin’s residence in the 20100 block of Beaver Dam Road, Lewes.  Govin was not home at the time, however consent to search the residence was provided by the homeowners.  Upon conducting a search of the property, a John Deere Gator was located behind a pole building.  The Gator was found to have been reported stolen to police on April 23, 2020.

It was leanred that Govin had responded to Cichocki’s residence.  Troopers returned to Cichocki’s residence and took Govin into custody without further incident. It was determined that Govin was also a suspect in a burglary that occurred on April 22, 2020 in which he entered a residence under construction on Warrington Road by cutting a hole in the fence and removed approximately 100 electrical boxes.  Also taken from the construction site was a black Artic Cat ATV, farm equipment, and building materials.

Both Govin and Cichocki were transported back to Troop 4 where they were charged with the following:

Anthony Cichocki:

  • Theft (Felony)-2 counts
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Criminal Trespass Second Degree
  • Criminal Trespass Third Degree

Cichocki was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $7100.00 unsecured bond.

Brian Govin:

  • Burglary Third Degree
  • Theft (Felony) 3 counts
  • Conspiracy Second Degree
  • Theft
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Criminal Trespass Second Degree
  • Criminal Trespass Third Degree- 2 counts

Govin was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $13202.00 unsecured bond.
