Troopers Arrest Laurel Man for Aggravated Menacing- Laurel

Date Posted: Saturday, May 2nd, 2020

Laurel– The Delaware State Police have arrested 24-year-old Gideon F. Sisk 4th of Laurel, on two counts of aggravated menacing.

The incident occurred on May 1, 2020, at approximately 2:37 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the area of 30000 Whaleys Way, Laurel, for a report of a subject threatening individuals with a rifle. Upon arrival, Troopers met with the 17-year-old female victim who advised while outside her residence, her dog began to bark on the driveway. When she went to investigate, she discovered a male subject later identified as Sisk, standing there talking to her dog. She told him to leave her property and she began to walk inside her residence when the dog began barking again. When she turned around, she observed the subject walking down her driveway, place a bag on it, and then returned to the end of the driveway. Sisk then retrieved what appeared to be a long black gun. The victim ran into her residence and called 911 and a friend for help. Sisk fled the area on foot. Once her friend arrived, the victim left the residence in a vehicle, traveling on Whaleys Way toward Adams Road. As they were traveling, she discovered Sisk walking on the roadway holding the weapon. As they approached, he began to fidget around his waistband, and the victim feared he was going to pull out another gun from his pants. He then began to manipulate the long gun he was holding, and the victim feared he was going to point the weapon at them. They were able to flee the area uninjured.

While Troopers were en route to the initial incident, they received another 911 call of a male later identified as Sisk, running down the roadway with a shotgun before fleeing into the woods in the area of Adams Rd. A search of the area was conducted by Troopers, and Sisk was located walking through the tree line, towards a residence on Samuel Hill Road. He was taken into custody without incident. The weapon was discovered in front of a bush at the same residence where Sisk was taken into custody. After further investigation, the weapon was determined to be a 760 Pump Master Classis pump-action BB gun.

Sisk was transported back to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Aggravated Menacing (2 Felony counts)
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree

Sisk was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $10,101.00 secure bond.
