Date Posted: Thursday, March 12th, 2020

Wilmington– The Delaware State Police Governor’s Task Force (GTF) with the assistance of Probation and Parole officers have arrested 26 year old Jacob J. Santiago of Wilmington on drug dealing related charges.

In February 2020, GTF members received information in regards to drug dealing activities being conducted by Santiago. During the course of the ongoing investigation detectives were able to identify a white Jeep Cherokee with Ohio tags, as a vehicle associated with Santiago’s drug sales. On Wednesday, March 11, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Cherokee, which was being driven and solely occupied by Santiago, was observed on Lincoln St. within the City of Wilmington, engaging in what appeared to be illegal drug dealing activity. A traffic stop was conducted on the Jeep in the area of Lancaster Ave. and Greenhill Ave., at which time Santiago was taken in to custody without incident. A search of the Jeep produced 45 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl. During a search of Santiago’s person, $660.00 in suspected drug proceeds was also recovered. It was also determined that Santiago was an active probationer stemming from a previous firearm charge.

Santiago was charged with one count each of the following:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity

Santiago was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and then committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $100,000.00 cash bail.
