*Update*-Troopers Arrest Rafael A. Pena-Suarez for Attempted Murder in Seaford Shooting

Seaford, Delaware – The Delaware State Police have arrested Rafael A. Pena-Suarez, 64 of Bridgeville, Delaware in connection with a shooting that occurred at approximately 10:28 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020, at a local area bar and package store.

The preliminary investigation has determined that Troopers were dispatched to “The Woodshed” located at 22588 Bridgeville Highway, Seaford for a shooting incident. Troopers located a 41-year-old male gunshot victim after a reported altercation. The victim was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to a local area hospital where he is listed in stable condition. There were no other reported injuries as a result of the incident.

Rafael A. Pena-Suarez was developed as a suspect.  A subsequent search warrant was executed on Rifle Range Road, Bridgeville on March 8, 2020, and Rafael was taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

  • Attempted Murder First Degree
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

Rafael A. Pena-Suarez was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $280,000.00 cash bond.
