Millsboro- The Delaware State Police have arrested 39-year-old Omar S. Ruiz of Millsboro after he assaulted his girlfriend’s father.

The incident occurred on January 23, 2020 at approximately 10:15 p.m., when Ruiz engaged in a physical altercation with his girlfriend’s 48-year-old father at a residence in the 27000 block of Willow Lane, Millsboro. During the altercation, two children, ages 1 and 11 were present.

The victim was able to leave the residence and responded to a neighbor’s residence.  Troopers made contact with the victim at this residence and observed the victim to have injuries to his face.  The victim was subsequently transported to a local area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Ruiz was taken into custody at his residence on Willow Lane, Millsboro, without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

• Assault Second Degree
• Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 counts)

Ruiz was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $12000.00 cash only bond.
