Troopers Arrest Ellendale Man for Aggravated Menacing and Weapon Charges-Ellendale

Ellendale– The Delaware State Police have arrested 52-year-old Charles J. Turner for Aggravated Menacing and multiple weapons charges following a domestic related incident.

The incident occurred on January 22, 2020 at approximately 1:25 p.m., when Troopers responded to the parking lot of the Ellendale Firehouse to meet with a victim in reference to a report of a domestic involving a handgun that occurred in the 12000 block of Ponder Road, Ellendale.  Upon arrival, Troopers met with the 58-year-old male victim who advised that he and his brother, Charles Turner, had engaged in a physical altercation in which Turner had displayed a 9mm handgun.  The victim was able to leave the residence unharmed and responded to the Firehouse parking lot.

While still at the Firehouse, Turner also arrived in his vehicle.   A traffic stop was conducted when Troopers detected an odor of Marijuana.  A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded approximately 8.72 grams of Marijuana and ammunition.  A computer inquiry revealed that Turner was a person prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.  Turner was taken into custody without incident.

A search warrant was obtained for Turner’s residence in the 12000 block of Ponder Road, Ellendale.  As a result of the search warrant the following was located:

  • approximately 110.56 grams of Marijuana
  • a 9mm semi-automatic handgun
  • a .38 caliber revolver
  • ammunition for both firearms.

Turner was transported back to Troop 7 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (4 counts)
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Offensive Touching
  • Possession of Marijuana

Turner was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $19000.00 unsecured bond.
