Date Posted: Friday, January 10th, 2020

Bear – The Delaware State Police have arrested 37 year old Lewis A. Radcliffe of Bear in connection with the armed robbery of a Bear area 7-Eleven that occurred last week.

On January 5, 2020 at approximately 4:56 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 1700 Pulaski Highway, Bear, for a report of a robbery.  Upon arrival, contact was made with a 41-year-old male employee who advised that a subject entered the business displaying a black automatic rifle and demanded money.  The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash prior to the suspect fleeing the area on foot in the direction of Porter Road.  The employee was not injured as a result of this incident.

Through various investigative measures detectives were able to develop a white Mercury Milan with Delaware tags as a vehicle involved in the robbery, ultimately linking it to Radcliffe.

On Friday January 10, a search warrant was executed at Radcliffe’s residence located in the unit block of Moyer Dr. in Bear. As a result of the search detectives were able to recover evidence, to include a black, assault rifle style air soft gun, further linking Radcliffe to the robbery.

Radcliffe, who was taken in to custody without incident at the time the search warrant was executed, was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with one count each of Robbery 1st Degree and Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and then committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $23,000.00 cash bail.
