Troopers Investigate Farmers Market Robbery– One in Custody, One at Large

Wilmington- The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred midday on Sunday at the 7 Days Farmers Market in Wilmington.

The incident occurred Sunday, December, 29, 2019 at approximately 11:55 am, when Troopers were dispatched to the 7 Days Farmers Market located at 3901 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Two suspects filled a shopping cart with merchandise and attempted to exit the store without paying. The manager of the store confronted the suspects which caused one suspect described as a white male to flee the scene, and the second suspect identified as 31 year old Barry Miller of Wilmington, began arguing with the manager. Miller then reentered the store and began filling up a basket of merchandise and attempted to exit the store a second time. The manager confronted the suspect again, and a Barry began assaulting the manager. A 27 year old employee assisted the manager in detaining Miller, but was spit on during the incident. Upon Troopers arrival they immediately took Miller into custody.

The manager of the business who is a 58 year old victim sustained non-life threatening injuries to his head, neck, and extremities.

Miller was transported to Troop 1 where he was charged with the following:

  • Robbery Second Degree
  • Conspiracy Second Degree
  • Offensive Touching

Miller was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2550.00 secured bond and ordered to have no contact with the victims.

The other suspect, who is pictured below, was described as a white male with red hair wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.
