Troopers Arrest Two in Connection with a Multi-Agency Robbery Investigation-Ellendale

Date Posted: Wednesday, December 11th, 2019

Ellendale– The Delaware State Police have arrested two suspects, 20-year-old Jayson T. Willin of Seaford and 23-year-old Daquan L. Bailey of Seaford in connection with a multi-agency robbery investigation.

The incident occurred on December 11, 2019 at approximately 1:51 a.m., when Troop 5 units were dispatched to the Royal Farms, located at 16979 Beach Highway, Ellendale, for a report of an attempted robbery. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with a 34-year-old male employee who advised that while he was cleaning the store, he noticed a display knocked over and items behind the cash register were disturbed. Upon further inspection, the employee discovered that the “MoneyGram” money order machine was missing from behind the counter.

Surveillance footage from the Royal Farms revealed that at approximately 1:03 a.m., a subject entered the store wearing a black ski mask, dark clothing, orange or bright colored red underwear, black sweatpants with three bright green stripes going down the sides, black Vans sneakers with white laces. The suspect is observed grabbing his waistband as he enters the store, an act common with suspects concealing firearms in their waistband.  The suspect then proceeded to jump over the counter and remove the “MoneyGram” machine from underneath the counter before fleeing the store undetected.

Following this incident, the Greenwood Police Department was dispatched to the Royal Farms, located at 2 Schultz Road, Greenwood, DE, for an armed robbery complaint. Through investigations, it was discovered that the suspect in this incident matched the description of the suspect in the Ellendale incident.  The suspect in this case was seen fleeing the area in what appeared to be a white Ford Fusion.

A general broadcast was put out for the suspect vehicle involved.  At approximately 4:11 a.m., a Milton Police Officer observed a vehicle matching the description in the area of the Finish Line Car Wash on Broadkill Road (SR 16), Milton, DE.  The Milton Police Department and DSP Troop 7 Patrol units conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and took both occupants into custody without incident. The operator was identified as Jayson T. Willin and the passenger as Daquan Bailey. Willin was wearing clothing observed in the surveillance footage from Royal Farms. Both suspects were transported back to Troop 4.

It was learned that on December 10, 2019, the Bridgeville and Milford Royal Farms both had robbery incidents in which the suspects matched the  description of Willin and Bailey.

The Delaware State Police have charged Willin and Bailey with the following:

  • Attempted to Commit Robbery First Degree
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
  • Theft (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree

Willin was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $49000.00 cash only bond.

Bailey was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $47000.00 cash only bond.

The Bridgeville, Milford, and Greenwood Police Departments have separate charges for the robberies committed within their jurisdictions.
