Troopers Arrest Elsmere Man for Weapons, Resisting Arrest Charges – New Castle

New Castle – The Delaware State Police have arrested 24 year old Jose Medina-Romero of Elsmere, on weapons offenses and other related charges in connection with an incident that took place at a New Castle area restaurant on Sunday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 pm, Sunday, November, 24, 2019, when Troopers responded to the Taquira Restaurant located at 241 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle in reference to a subject armed with a knife who was threatening to kill restaurant staff.  Upon arrival Troopers confronted Medina-Romero in the parking lot of the business, and observed him in possession of a large kitchen knife. Medina-Romero failed to comply with Troopers commands, but was successfully taken into custody after a brief struggle. The knife was recovered and seized as evidence. None of the restaurant staff were injured as a result of the incident.

Medina-Romero was transported back to Troop 2 where he was processed and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Aggravated Menacing (2 Counts)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Terroristic Threatening (2 counts)

Medina-Romero was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $35,000 cash bond.
