Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest-Lewes

Lewes – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Milton, DE man on multiple drug charges after he was stopped for traffic violations.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:35 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019 when a Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a silver Landrover SUV on Beaver Dam Road Lewes, after the operator failed to signal a lane change and failed to remain within a single lane.  The Landrover was occupied by the driver and sole occupant, Harry Johnson Jr., 51, of Milton, DE. Upon making contact with Johnson, the Trooper detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Further investigation determined that Johnson was driving under the influence of drugs and a subsequent search of the vehicle produced the following:

  • Approximately 0.14 grams of heroin
  • 83 Amphetamine pills
  • 4 Buprenorphine pills
  • Approximately 23 grams of Marijuana
  • Approximately 6.6 grams of Hashish
  • Approximately 0.8 grams of Methamphetamine
  • Drug Paraphernalia

Johnson was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 7 where he was charged with the following:

  • Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
  • Failure to have Insurance Identification in Possession
  • Failed to remain in a single lane
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts)
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 4 Quantity
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance with aggravated factor (5 counts)

Johnson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $80,626 secured bond.
