Troopers Arrest Three Suspects on Drug Related Charges-New Castle

New Castle (19720)- The Delaware State Police have arrested three suspects after a fight amongst them led to police contact and the discovery of drugs.

The incident occurred on November 1, 2019 at approximately 9:45 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the area of S. Dupont Highway and Pulaski Highway for a fight in progress.  Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with 24-year-old Marlon Steele of Lansdowne, PA, and 27-year-old Nyier Starks of New Castle, DE who had just broken up from fighting. Starks advised Steele had assaulted him and cut him with a knife.  Starks sustained a minor injury and was treated and released by medical personnel.  A knife was recovered from the scene.

Further investigation revealed that Steele and Starks were in the company of 46-year-old Davina T. Bryant of Philadelphia, PA,who was driving  a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander.  Upon contact with the vehicle, Troopers smelled and odor of marijuana and observed what appeared to be marijuana on the front passenger’s seat.  A further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 1,414.65 grams of marijuana.

Steele, Starks, and Bryant were taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 2 where they were charged with the following:

Marlon Steele:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity and there is an aggravating factor
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity
  • Conspiracy Second Degree
  • Terroristic Threatening
  •  Assault Third Degree

Steele was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $70000.00 secured bond.

Nyier Starks:

  • Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity and there is an aggravating factor
  • Conspiracy Second Degree

Starks was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and received $6000.00 unsecured bond, however was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on unrelated charges.

Davina T. Bryant:

  • Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity and there is an aggravating factor
  • Possession of  a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity
  • Conspiracy Second Degree

Bryant was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $7000.00 unsecured bond.
