Troopers Arrest Bridgeville Teen for Domestic Related Weapons Offenses

Bridgeville – The Delaware State Police have arrested 17 year old Edward J. Massey of Bridgeville, on multiple weapons related offenses stemming from a domestic incident that occurred Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:23 a.m., Sunday, October 20, 2019 at a residence located in the 20000 block of Booker T. Washington St. in Bridgeville. Massey became involved in a verbal altercation with family members, which included three juvenile siblings as well as a step-parent. Massey briefly left the residence and then returned a short time later armed with a handgun, which caused alarm to his family members. After displaying the weapon Massey again fled the residence in an unknown direction. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

Upon the first responding Troopers arrival Massey had already fled, however he later returned to the residence and was taken in to custody without incident. Upon being taken in to custody Massey was found to be in possession of heroin. The firearm, which was determined to be a loaded, Taurus 38 was also recovered. Further investigation determined that the firearm had been reported as stolen.

Massey was transported to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Menacing (4 counts)
  • Reckless Endangering (4 counts)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Juvenile (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Stolen Firearm
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Massey was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and then committed to detention facility on $33,000.00 secured bail.
