Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests and Apprehension of Wanted Subject – Lincoln

Lincoln – The Delaware State Police have arrested two men on multiple drug related offenses after their vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in Lincoln, Friday afternoon.

At approximately 2:21 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2019 Troopers were on pro-active patrol in the area of N. Old State Rd. and Johnson Rd. in Lincoln, when they observed a maroon, Hyundai SUV that was speeding. The Troopers followed behind the vehicle as it continued travelling on N. Old State Rd. and initiated a traffic stop. Prior to coming to a stop Troopers observed the right rear passenger door of the Hyundai open and then saw an object thrown from the vehicle. The door closed again and the Hyundai continued on for a short distance before coming to a complete stop.

As the Troopers approached the vehicle they saw a subject laying down across the back seat, who was immediately recognized as Joshua A. Wright, 28, of Milford, who was known to have active warrants for weapons related offenses. Wright was ordered from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. Troopers then made contact with the driver, who was identified as Tevin Dorsey, 28, of Milford, and upon making contact with him they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Dorsey was then removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident.

Troopers were able to recover the object that was thrown from the vehicle which was a sock that contained 47.7 grams of crack and powdered cocaine. A search of Wright produced $2055.00 in cash. A search of the interior of the vehicle produced a plastic bag containing 421.9 grams of marijuana along with assorted drug paraphernalia, to include a scale and small plastic bags. Recovered from the trunk of the vehicle was a bin which contained 12 lbs. of freshly harvested marijuana plants.

Both Wright and Dorsey were transported to Troop 7 where they were charged with the following:

Joshua A. Wright

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 5 Quantity
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 4 Quantity
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 1 Quantity
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (3 counts)
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree

Wright was also arrested on the following charges related to a June 2019 incident that took place in Ellendale.

  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Riot
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree
  • Assault 3rd Degree

Wright was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $223,600.00 cash bail.

Dorsey was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $135,601.00 cash bail.
