Troopers Arrest Georgetown Man for Two Carjackings – Lewes

Lewes– The Delaware State Police have arrested a Georgetown man for two attempted carjacking’s that took place late yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:25 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019, on Stockley Road in the area of Beaver Dam Road, Lewes. The two victims in this incident, a 49-year-old Milton man and a 68-year-old Harbeson man, were driving separate vehicles in the area and were each flagged down by a shirtless black male suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Dionte Stanley of Georgetown, DE. In each incident the victims thought that Stanley was waving them down due to being in some type of distress, and there intent was to provide assistance. Once stopped Stanley approached them at their driver’s side door and began making irrational statements while attempting to gain access to the vehicles. Both victims became alarmed and immediately drove away. Both victim’s then independently called 911 to report their incident. Neither victim was injured as a result of the incident.

Upon the Troopers arrival to the area, a shirtless Stanley was contacted and taken into custody without incident. Stanley was transported to Troop 7 where he was charged with Carjacking 1st Degree, Carjacking 2nd Degree, Terroristic Threatening and Failure to Comply with Taking of Photos or Fingerprints. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $68,000 cash only bond.
