Date Posted: Wednesday, August 28th, 2019

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police have arrested 20 year old Miguel Rivera-Cruz, of Wilmington, who is responsible for multiple graffiti incidents that have occurred during the month of August.

On Monday, August 26, 2019 at approximately 11:45 p.m., a Trooper assigned to Troop 6 was patrolling the Prices Corner Shopping Center due to a recent rash of graffiti incidents that have taken place at locations along the Kirkwood Hwy. /Prices Corner corridor over the course of the last two weeks.

While in the rear of the J.C. Penney department store the Trooper came upon Rivera-Cruz who was in possession of spray paint and was in the process of tagging the building with the word “SHAM”. Rivera-Cruz was taken into custody without incident. At the time of his apprehension, in addition to the spray paint cans, he was also found to be in possession of a fixed blade knife.

Through further investigation the Trooper was able to link Rivera-Cruz to multiple graffiti incidents where the tag “SHAM” had been spray painted on various buildings, fences, dumpsters and sheds in the Prices Corner vicinity.

River-Cruz was charged with 8 counts of Graffiti, and one count each of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Instrument, Possession of Graffiti Implements and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. He was arraigned and released on $2,200.00 unsecured bail.
