Troopers Arrest Wilmington Man in Robbery – Claymont

Claymont, Delaware – Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man and have charged him in connection with a robbery that occurred in the area directly behind a local area liquor store.

The investigation revealed that on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at approximately 7:31 p.m., troopers responded to the area of 3101 Philadelphia Pike behind the Yetter’s Liquors for a report of a robbery of a 17-year-old male victim. The victim left the Holy Rosary Carnival and began walking behind the area of the liquor store. While walking, a group of approximately four males approached the victim. One of the black male suspects confronted the victim face-to-face and proceeded to punch the victim in the face knocking the victim to the ground. The other male suspects then began punching and kicking the victim while he was on the ground. During the attack on the victim, the suspects stole his cellular phone and his money. All of the suspects then fled prior to police arrival. The victim sustained minor injuries.

During the investigation, one of the suspects was developed and later identified as Shahid Majid, 18 of Wilmington. On Thursday, July 18, 2019, Majid was taken into custody by the NCCPD during a traffic stop and transported to Troop 1. Shahid Majid was processed and charged with Robbery First Degree. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in default of $60,000.00 cash bond.
