*UPDATE-Arrest Made* Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery of Newark Gas Station

Newark (19713) – The Delaware State Police have arrested 30 year old Dawon Brown of Wilmington in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 4:26 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Exxon gas station located at 263 E. Chestnut Hill Road.

During this incident an employee had gone outside to take a break when he was approached from behind by a suspect demanding he open the doors to the business.  The victim complied with the demands, unlocked the business, and realized at this point there were a total of three suspects.  Once inside, the victim, held at gun point, was ordered to open up the cash register.  While the victim opened the cash drawer, one of the suspects removed and undisclosed amount of cash, while a second suspect removed several boxes of blunts and cigarettes.

Through various investigative measures, detectives were able to positively identify Brown as one of the three suspects. On Thursday, March 28, Brown was taken in to custody without incident and transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with one count each of Robbery 1st Degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree and Wearing a Disguise during the Commision of a Felony. He was then committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $30,000.00 cash bail.

Two suspects have yet to be identified however the investigation remains active and ongoing.
