Rehoboth Beach- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Lewes man after he was found in possession of a weapon and drugs.
The incident occurred on December 24, 2018 at approximately 11:51 p.m., when Troopers were made aware of a shoplifting that had just occurred at the Helly Hansen Department Store located 36470 Seaside Outlet Drive, and the suspect fled in a Black Kia Optima with temporary tags. Troopers observed a Black Kia Optima with temporary tags in the vicinity matching the description traveling northbound on Coastal Highway in the area of Munchy Branch Road. A traffic stop was conducted and upon contact with the driver, Troopers observed a handgun on the passengers seat. The driver, 26-year-old Tre Jamal Edwards was detained. Further investigation led to the discovery of 10.92 grams of marijuana, 0.74 grams of cocaine, eight 9mm rounds loaded in a magazine, and over $600.00 in suspected drug proceeds.
Edwards was transported back to Troop 7 where he was charged with the following:
He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $38,500.00 cash only bond.
