*Update-Suspect Arrested* Troopers Investigating Shoplifting Turned Robbery-Newark

Newark– The Delaware State Police have arrested one suspect in connection with a shoplifting incident that turned into a robbery after a Home Depot employee was sprayed with pepper spray.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:52 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Home Depot, located at 1301 Churchman’s Rd., Newark, when an employee observed a group of known shoplifters in the store. The group which consists of two males and one female, have been tied to multiple shoplifting incidents that have taken place at Home Depot locations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Through investigative measures, one suspect has been identified as 34-year old Dayshawn A. Jenkins from Bronx, NY.  On November 29, 2018, Jenkins was extradited back to Delaware from the State of New Jersey and charged with the following:

  •  Robbery First Degree
  •  Conspiracy Second Degree

Jenkins was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $62,000.00 cash only bond.
