Townsend – A joint investigation involving the Delaware State Police Governor’s Task Force (GTF) and Probation and Parole, has resulted in the arrest of 37 year old Edward Benson of Townsend, on multiple weapons and drug related offenses.
During the month of November 2018, information was obtained that Benson, who is an active probationer, was dealing drugs throughout New Castle County. The two week investigation culminated with a search warrant being executed at Benson’s residence, in the 100 block of Esch St. in Townsend on Wednesday, November 14.
The search resulted in the recovery of an AR-15 rifle, 21 grams of cocaine along with paraphernalia associated with illegal drug sales.
Benson was taken in to custody without incident and transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following:
Benson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and then committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $32,500.00 secured bail.
