Date Posted: Sunday, September 16th, 2018

New Castle (19720) – The Delaware State Police arrested Erick Jainlett Pough, 26 of Delaware City, for falsely reporting a felony stating he was a victim of an armed robbery in the parking lot of a local area bank.

The original incident occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m., Saturday, September, 1, 2018 in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 1424 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle. Erick Jainlett Pough advised the investigating trooper he was seated in his vehicle just prior to using the bank’s ATM when three subjects approached him. He went into detail and stated, the first subject, positioned himself at the driver’s door was in possession of a black handgun. A second subject, who was at the front passenger door was in possession of a silver hand gun, while a third subject remained in the area of the passenger side rear door. The subject at the driver’s door pointed the gun at the victim and demanded property from inside the vehicle. The alleged victim reported he turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and two cell-phones. After obtaining the property the victim also reported was ordered to put his head down and not look up. During the time that the victim had his head down all three subjects were able to flee. The victim further advised that he believed they were in a black vehicle because there was one in the lot prior to the incident, but it was gone when he finally looked up.

Through investigative measures, detectives were able to determine that Erick Jainlett Pough lied and falsely reported the incident in order to cover up he was with someone else allegedly under the influence of illegal drugs. Pough was arrested without incident at his residence in Delaware City. He was then transported and processed at the Delaware City Police Department.

Erick Jainlett Pough was charged with Providing a False Statement to Law Enforcement with intent to Delay or Hinder Investigation of a Felony. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released on $2000.00 unsecured bail.
