**Update #2** Troopers Investigating Fatal Hit and Run Crash Involving Pedestrian-Ellendale

Ellendale– The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian.

The incident occurred around 10:48 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 as an unknown vehicle with an unidentified operator was traveling northbound on South Old State Road (CR 213), north of Robbins Road (CR 579). A pedestrian, 53-year-old woman from Ellendale was walking in an unknown direction near the edge of the road.  As the unknown vehicle approached the pedestrian, its right side mirror and possibly front headlight struck her, causing her to be thrown onto the grass on the side of the road.

After the impact, the unknown vehicle fled the scene northbound.

The 53-year-old pedestrian, Jacqueline Jenkins of Ellendale wore dark clothing and was not carrying a light. She was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

South Old State Road north of Robbins Road was shut down for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Through investigative measures, the hit and run vehicle involved was identified as a 2008, Pontiac G6. Also identified was the operator, 61-year-old female, Parless A. Dockery of Ellendale. The Pontiac was located and inspected and revealed evidence matching this crash.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.
