*UPDATE-Suspect in Custody* Troopers Seek Assistance In Identifying Bank Robbery Suspect

Delaware/Pennsylvania– As a result of a joint investigation between the Delaware State Police, Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department (Pennsylvania) and the FBI, Thomas Thompson, 57, of Philadelphia, was identified as the suspect responsible for three bank robberies that took place in Delaware and Pennsylvania, over a five day period in mid-September.

On Friday, September 28, 2018 Thompson was taken in to custody by the FBI at his place of residence in the 1500 block of West Chester Pike, Westtown, PA. All three agencies then executed search warrants that had been issued for Thompson’s residence and his vehicle. As a result of the searches evidence was recovered further linking Thompson to all three robberies.

Thompson was remanded to Federal custody with the investigation being assumed by the FBI for the purpose of Federal prosecution in the following three robberies:

  • September 18, 2018: Wells Fargo 2011 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE
  • September 19, 2018: Wells Fargo 1424 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle DE
  • September 22, 2018: PNC 1500 West Chester Pike, Westtown PA

Troopers Investigating Shots Fired Incident-Seaford

Seaford- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shots fired incident that occurred yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at approximately 2:16 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the 26000 block of Kelly Circle for a shots fired complaint.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that unknown subject(s) had banged on the front door to the residence and a 35-year-old male resident answered the door.  One of the suspects was holding a firearm and discharged two rounds into the residence.  The glass to the storm door was shattered and there appeared to be a bullet hole in the screen of the storm door.  One bullet was recovered a few feet inside the residence, while the second appeared to have struck a couch.

The 35-year-old victim sustained a minor injury to his lower extremity apparently from the front door shattering.  He was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.  Also inside the residence during this incident was a 35-year-old female who was not injured.

Troopers Arrest Millsboro Woman for 7th Offense DUI After Crash

Millsboro– The Delaware State Police have arrested a Millsboro woman for her 7th Offense DUI after she was involved in a single motor vehicle hit and run crash.

The incident occurred on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at approximately 3:21 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 26000 block of  Starboard Road in reference to a hit and run crash.  Upon arrival, Troopers met with the resident who advised that his mailbox was struck by a maroon Ford work van.

Through investigative measures, Troopers were able to identify the van and the driver, 56 year-old Kim M. Toohey.  Troopers made contact with Toohey on Sassafras Road who was driving a different vehicle at the time.  An odor of alcohol was detected and a DUI investigation ensued.   A computer check revealed that Toohey had six previous DUI convictions, making this her seventh offense. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia.  Toohey was transported back to Troop 7 where she was charged with the following:

  • 7th Offense DUI after 6 prior offenses
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Leaving the Scene of Property Collision Accident
  • Failure to Provide Information At Collision Scene
  • Failure to Have Insurance Identification
  • Failure to Report a Collision Involving Alcohol
  • Failure to Have Registration Card in Possession

Toohey was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Womens Correctional Institution $20,602.00 cash only bond.

Troopers Investigating Serious Crash Involving a Pedestrian – Wilmington

Wilmington (19808)- The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash involving a pedestrian that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at approximately 11:22 p.m., when a 20-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Limestone Road (SR7) south of the intersection with Stoney Batter Road.  A silver 2017 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Limestone Road.  The victim along with a group of friends crossed the southbound lanes against the traffic.  The friends stopped in the center median when the victim continued to cross into the northbound lanes, where she was struck by the Accord.

The victim was transported to the Christiana Hospital in critical condition.  The initial investigation determined that the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing, not carrying a flashlight and not utilizing a marked crosswalk. Impairment on her behalf is unknown at this time.

The driver of the Honda, a 70-year-old male from Kennett Square, PA, was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries.  Impairment on his behalf is not a factor in the crash.

*UPDATE #3* Suspect Arraigned in Homicide Investigation-Portsville

Portsville– The Delaware State Police have arraigned one suspect in connection with the death of a 19-year-old Laurel man, while the second suspect still remains at large.

On Saturday, September 29, 2018 Traevon Dixon, 21 of Laurel was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 for Murder First Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.  He received a $160,000.00 cash only bond and remains in custody at the Sussex Correctional Institution.

Troopers still have been unable to locate Jerry Reed who currently has active warrants for Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.

This case continues to remain under investigation, and anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Reed is asked to contact Detective M. Csapo at 302-741-2729. Dover- The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit (S.O.A.R.) is currently looking for the following wanted sex offenders.

Daniel O. Young, 33 of Milford who is 5’09” tall, 160 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes is a registered sex offender who is currently wanted for Failure to Re-register as a Sex Offender.

Myeisha Y. Morris, who is 5’03” tall, 220 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes is a registered sex offender who is currently wanted for Failure to Re-register as a Sex Offender and Failure to Verify Address.

Millsboro Man Charged with Vehicular Assault after Crash

Millsboro – Delaware State Troopers have charged a Millsboro man with two counts of vehicular assault after he was involved in a crash and found to be driving under the influence.

The incident occurred on Friday, September 28, 2018 at approximately 3:00 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the area of Millsboro Highway and Godwin School Road for a report of a crash. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2016 BMW was headed eastbound on Millsboro Highway when it failed to maintain its lane. The BMW entered into the westbound lane of travel and struck a 2009 Blue Nissan Altima head on.

Upon contact with the operator of the BMW, 31-year-old Lamar Finney, an odor of alcohol was detected and a DUI investigation ensued.

The operator of the Altima, a 24-year-old male from Laurel was transported to the Beebe Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger in the Altima, an 18-year-old female from Millsboro, was also transported to the Beebe Medical Center with serious injuries.

Finney was transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

  • Vehicular Assault First Degree (2 counts)
  • Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • Failure to Transfer Title and Registration
  • Failure to remain within a single lane

Finney was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on $7,002.00 unsecured bond.

The Law and Your Community a Team Approach to Mutual Respect – Dover

Dover, Delaware – Tonight, Thursday, September 27, 2018, a Town Hall Meeting on Police-Community Relations took place at the Whatcoat United Methodist Church located at 341 Saulsbury Road, Dover, Delaware.

This Town Hall was a collaborative venture with law enforcement and the community sponsored by the Delaware Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives. All stakeholders supported creating an open, honest dialogue between law enforcement and communities across the State of Delaware. Our delegations of guest speakers were comprised of Law Enforcement Agencies which included Captain Joshua Bushweller of the Delaware State Police, Chief Harry Downes of the Delaware State University Police Department, Chief Marvin Mailey of the Dover Police Department and Captain John Treadwell of the New Castle County Police Department; all who helped guide the conversation towards inclusion for all, cultural sensitivity, building better relationships, respect for one another and finding common ground.

This was another wonderful opportunity to engage in a healthy discussion with the citizens as to how we can better work together to make our communities safer and to foster an environment of mutual trust and respect.”

Troopers Investigating Robbery – Pike Creek

Newark (19711) – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that took place in the parking lot of the Polly Drummond Shopping Center on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:59 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the parking lot, outside of Samson’s Country Maid Deli, located at 14 Polly Drummond Shopping Center, Newark. An employee of the business had just returned to his vehicle which was parked in the lot, after closing the business for the night. As he sat in his vehicle, prior to driving off, he was approached by two suspects. The first suspect grabbed the victim as he sat in the drivers seat and demanded money, while the second suspect entered the vehicle through the passenger side front door. Once inside the vehicle Suspect #2 rifled through multiple bags that were on the front seat taking one of them. Suspect #1 made off with the victim’s wallet, cell-phone and car keys. Both suspects then entered in to a light colored vehicle and fled onto Linden Hill Rd. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspects were described as follows:

Suspect #1: Black male, 25-35 years of age, thin build, wearing all dark clothing to include a face covering.

Suspect #2:Black male, 25-35 years of age, thin build, wearing all white clothing and a dark covering over his face.

No surveillance images are available at this time.
