Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Suspect Brian D. Caldwell – Ocean View

Ocean View, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the pictured suspect who is wanted in connection with a burglary and theft complaint.

On February 27, 2019 at approximately 9:36 a.m., troopers responded to 38,000 block of Martins Way, Ocean View for a burglary complaint. It was reported the suspect, Brian D. Caldwell was identified in the residence. Prior to the suspect exiting the residence, he removed keys for a white 2005 Chrysler Sebring and fled the residence with the vehicle in an unknown direction.

Troopers have been unable to locate Brian D. Caldwell, 50 of Ocean View, who currently has active warrants out of Troop 4 for Burglary Third Degree, Theft Where A Victim Is 62 Yrs Of Age Or Older , Conspiracy Second Degree and Unauthorized Use Of A Vehicle.

Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Suspect Justin M. Shifflett- Millsboro

Millsboro, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the pictured suspect who is wanted in connection with a domestic related assault and strangulation.

On February 26, 2019 at approximately 8:36 p.m., troopers responded to Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, for a report of a verbal domestic that turned physical. It was reported the victim was assaulted by her husband, Justin M. Shifflett, 47 of Millsboro when he grabbed her throat and struck her face. The victim attempted to call 9-1-1 but the suspect smacked the phone out her hand to keep her from calling. The suspect then took her vehicle and fled from the residence. The 48-year-old-victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and refused treatment.

Troopers have been unable to locate Justin M. Shifflett, who currently has active warrants out of Troop 4 for Strangulation, Assault Third Degree and Malicious Interference with Emergency Communications.

Troopers Arrest Two in Hartly on Multiple Drug Charges

Hartly, Delaware – The Delaware State Police have arrested two women on multiple drug charges in connection with a drug dealing investigation.

On Thursday, February 28, 2019 members of the Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit (KDU) with the assistance of Kent County Governor’s Task Force (GTF) concluded this drug dealing investigation. Troopers responded to the 200 block of Judith Road, Hartly to locate Susan E. Everett, 59 of Hartly, who was involved in the distribution of crack cocaine. Upon arrival of the residence a drug search warrant was executed and troopers contacted Kelly A. Wooters, 50-year-old of Hartly, in a red BMW sedan parked in the driveway. Wooters was in possession of crack cocaine and was taken into custody. Susan E. Everett was contacted in the residence and she was in possession of suspected crack cocaine with suspected drug proceeds. Additionally located in the residence were crack cocaine smoking pipes, digital scales and drug paraphernalia.

A search of the residence was conducted resulting in the following being recovered:

  • Over 14.00 grams of Crack Cocaine
  • Over $1,000.00 in suspected drug proceeds

Both Susan E. Everett and Kelly A. Wooters were transported to Troop 3 and were charged and processed.

Susan E. Everett was charged with the following:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine in a Tier 2 quantity
  • Possession of Crack Cocaine in a Tier 2 quantity
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Kelly A. Wooters was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Crack Cocaine
  • Local Fugitive Capias – two active capiases out of Kent County Court of Common Pleas

Both defendants were arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2. Susan E. Everett was committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in default of $26,500.00 secured bail. Kelly A. Wooters was issued a $1,500.00 unsecured bail, however was committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in default of her outstanding $100.00 capias bail amount.

Troopers Attempting To Locate Robbery Suspect Christopher Boone – Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on March 1, 2019, at approximately 4:59 p.m., as troopers were dispatched to the unit block of Pebble Road, Rehoboth Beach for a report of a robbery of a 23 year old male victim. During the robbery, the victim was assaulted. The victim’s cellphone and money was stolen during the robbery. The victim was transported by EMS to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation revealed Christopher Boone, 29 of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware to be a suspect in the investigation.

Warrants for Christopher Boone were generated for the following charges:

  • Robbery 1st Degree
  • Assault 1st Degree
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree

Troopers Attempting to Locate Wanted Suspect Steven L. McCormick Jr.

The Delaware State Police are attempting to locate Steven L. McCormick Jr., 22 of Salisbury, Maryland who is wanted on domestic related assault charges and reckless endangering of responding troopers.

On Thursday, February 28, 2019, a physical domestic incident occurred on Boyd Drive, Magnolia between Steven L. McCormick Jr. and his girlfriend. During the incident the suspect punched her multiple times and prevented her from contacting 9-1-1 by damaging her phone. McCormick then fled the scene in a stolen vehicle; a 2010 gray Ford Fusion.

On the same date the stolen vehicle was seen at Walgreens located at 9202 Commercial Drive, Bridgeville, Delaware.  As the first trooper arrived on scene and attempted to exit the patrol vehicle, the suspect drove at the trooper and slammed into the passenger side compartment of the patrol vehicle. The trooper exited the patrol vehicle and began giving commands and the driver continued to ram the rear of the stolen vehicle into the side of the patrol vehicle in an attempt to prevent capture. The trooper sustained minor injuries.

Another trooper arrived on scene and exited his patrol vehicle to assist when the suspect then recklessly drove the stolen vehicle in the direction of the trooper causing him to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. McCormick fled the scene and was observed traveling on Sussex Highway in the area of Bridgeville Road. A computer check revealed his Maryland driver’s license was suspended.

Warrants are on file charging Steven L. McCormick Jr. with the following:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Malicious Interference with Emergency Communication
  • Offensive Touching
  • Two counts of Criminal Mischief
  • Two counts of Reckless Endangering
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Vehicular Assault
  • Drive Without a Licence

*UPDATE-Names Released*-Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash SR 1 – Smyrna

Smyrna – The Delaware State Police are releasing the names of those involved in the crash that took place on State Route 1 in Smyrna, late Saturday afternoon, in which one driver has succumb to his injuries.

The initial investigation determined that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on State Route 1 approaching the State Route 6 overpass when for an unknown reason the vehicle traveled into the center grass median. The Chevy began to spin counter-clockwise as it crossed the median, continuing into the SR 1 northbound lanes, and directly into the path of a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The front end of the Toyota struck the passenger side of the Chevy, pushing it northbound for a short distance before both vehicles came to a stop in the center of the roadway.

The Chevy was occupied by four male subjects. The driver, 23-year old , Marlon W. Jackson of Townsend, Delaware and right front passenger, Giovanni P. Downie from Brooklyn, New York were transported to the Christiana Hospital in critical condition. Jackson later succumb to his injuries on February 28, 2019.   A left rear passenger, Marcus A. Dunn from Jersey City, New Jersey was transported to the Christiana Hospital in stable condition. The right rear passenger, Jordan A. Hannah from Rockaway Beach, New York was transported to Kent General Hospital in stable condition.

The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, 27-year-old Matthew A. Hoffman from Berwyn, Pennsylvania was transported to the Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

State Route 1 northbound was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Investigating Report of Shots Fired – Stanton

Stanton, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in the early morning hours at a local bar.

On February 28, 2019 at approximately 1:27 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the Bank Shots Bar located at 106 Main Street, Stanton for a shots fired incident that followed an altercation that occurred inside the bar. It was determined that multiple fights occurred both inside and outside of the establishment where two black females were involved. After a fight outside was broken up, one of the female suspects retrieved a gun from the trunk of her car after an employee locked the females out of the bar. However, both females eventually made their way back in when another patron unlocked the door to exit. After making entry into the bar the suspects got into another fight and was broken up and sent outside. Once outside one of the female suspects fired multiple rounds toward the bar which struck the building. No patrons or employees were struck and there were no reports of injury as a result of this incident.

Two black female suspects and a white male fled in a Nissan Altima or Maxima, eastbound on Route 4.
