State Police Detectives Investigating Shooting

Wilmington (19802) – The Delaware State Police are investigating an overnight shooting that occurred at an area bar.

The incident was reported by medical personnel around 12:00 a.m. Saturday September 30, 2017 after a 42-year-old male drove himself to a Wilmington area hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.  The investigation revealed the male victim was in his automobile in the parking lot of Sweet Daddy’s Bar, located at 3806 Governor Printz Boulevard, when he was shot by an unknown subject.  The victim then drove himself to the hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening wound.

No suspect information is available at this time and the investigation into this incident is currently on-going.  Further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.

**Update** State Police Investigating Serious Crash, Greenwood

Greenwood – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into a fatal crash northwest of Greenwood.

The incident occurred around 9:18 p.m. Friday September 29, 2017 as a 2008 Ford F150 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Andrewsville Road just east of Greenwood Road.  For unknown reasons, the pickup truck’s right side tires went off the south edge of the roadway causing the rear of the vehicle to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction before crossing the westbound lane and traveling off the north side of the roadway.  As the truck traveled off the roadway, it struck a mailbox with its right side.  The pickup’s right side tires then gouged into the grass and overturned several times through the front yard of a private residence ejecting two of the three subjects onto the ground.  The Ford pickup came to stop in a corn field facing upright in a northerly direction.  All three occupants were not properly restrained.

A 41-year old Greenwood man was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital (MMH) where he was pronounced dead.  His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A 22-year-old Greenwood woman was transported by EMS to MMH and later transferred to Christiana Medical Center where she is admitted in critical condition.

A 45-year-old Harrington man was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital by EMS where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors in the case.  The operator of the truck has not been identified at this time.  Andrewville Road at Greenwood Road was closed for approximately four and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

**Traffic Advisory** State Police Investigating Serious Crash, Greenwood

Greenwood Crash

Greenwood – The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious crash northwest of Greenwood.

The incident occurred around 9:18 p.m. Friday September 29, 2017 near the intersection of Andrewville Road and Greenwood Road and involves a single vehicle.  Injuries have been reported in the crash, however, the exact number and extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

Andrewville Road at Greenwood Road is currently closed in the area.  Commuters should expect delays in the area and find alternate routes of travel.

Further details will be released upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Troopers Investigating Robbery Of A Wilmington Area Convenience Store

Wilmington (19804) – Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a robbery of a Wilmington area convenience store which resulted in the shooting of a store employee.

The initial investigation has revealed that at approximately 12:48 p.m. an unknown male suspect with a mask covering his face entered the Quick Mart convenience store located at 103 S. Maryland Avenue, Wilmington. The suspect approached the male clerk at the sales counter displayed an unknown make and model handgun and demanded money. A struggle ensued resulting in the clerk sustaining a gun shot wound to his upper extremity. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

The clerk was transported to Christiana Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.

**Update** Serious Crash Investigated East of Ellendale

Ellendale – The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a serious crash that occurred east of Ellendale.

The incident occurred around 11:06 a.m. Friday September 29, 2017 as a 41-year-old Georgetown male was operating 2004 Chrysler Pacifica westbound on Hummingbird Road entering the intersection at Holly Tree Road.  A 49-year-old Georgetown man was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Hummingbird Road approaching the same intersection.  As the two vehicles converged, for unknown reasons, the 41-year old male lost control of the Chrysler and exited the north side of the roadway before re-entering and swerving directly into the path of the Silverado.  The 49-year-old pickup driver attempted to swerve to the right, however the right side front of the Chrysler struck the front center of the truck near the south edge of the roadway.  After the impact, both vehicles were forced off the roadway and came to a stop.

The 41-year-old male Pacifica operator was not properly restrained and was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 2) to Christiana Medical Center where he was admitted with serious injuries.

The 49-year-old pickup truck operator, was not properly restrained, and was transported by ambulance to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital (MMH) where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 55-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck was not properly restrained and was also transported by EMS to MMH with non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors on behalf of the Chrysler Pacifica operator.  No charges have been filed.  Holly Tree Road at Hummingbird Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Arrest Two In New Castle Area Motel Parking Lot Robbery

New Castle (19720) – Delaware State Police have arrested two people and have charged them in connection with a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of a New Castle area motel.

The investigation revealed that on Thursday September 28th, 2017 at approximately 3:17 p.m. a 35 year old male was seated in his vehicle which was parked in the lot of the Crown Motel located at 152 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle. As he was seated in the vehicle he was approached at his drivers side window by a white female later identified as Deserie Henry 32, of New Castle. After a few moments a white male later identified as Robert A. Wilson, 25 of Hartly joined Henry at the victims vehicle. Wilson then displayed a black handgun, held it to the victim’s head and demanded property. The victim complied with Wilson’s demand, surrendering his wallet which contained an undisclosed amount of money along with his cell-phone. After obtaining the property both Wilson and Henry fled on foot towards the Airport Plaza Shopping Center. The victim sustained no injuries as a result of the altercation.

A probation officer who happened to be in the area was flagged down by the victim and advised of what had occurred. The probation officer then contacted State Police dispatch and provided information as to Wilson and Henry’s direction of travel and current location. A State Trooper out of Troop 2 responded to the area and was able to take both Wilson and Henry into custody without incident.

A search of the area resulted in the recovery of the victims property along with a black pellet gun which resembled a semi-automatic handgun.

Both Wilson and Henry were transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2 where they were arrested and charged with one count each of Robbery 1st Degree and Conspiracy 2nd degree.

Robert A. Wilson was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and then committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $62,100 secured bail.

Deserie Henry was arraigned at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas before being committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $27,500 secured bail.

*Traffic Advisory* Troopers Investigating Serious Motor Vehicle Crash – Greenville (Final Update)

Greenville – Further investigation revealed that at approximately 7:19 a.m. this morning, Friday September 29th, 2017 a black Audi Q-7 operated by a 57 year old Wilmington man was travelling northbound on Kennett Pike (Rt. 52) north of Hillside Rd. A black Jeep Liberty operated by a 17 year old male from Hockessin was travelling Kennett Pike (Rt. 52) southbound when for an unknown reason the Jeep veered left, crossing the center line striking the Audi head on. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway and no other vehicles were involved.

The 57 year old male was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to Christiana hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. The 17 year old male was treated on scene by EMS before being transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. A 16 year old female passenger in the Jeep was treated on scene by EMS before being transported to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police Helicopter Trooper 4, where she was admitted with serious injuries.

All subjects were properly restrained at the time of the crash and drugs or alcohol are not being considered as a factor.

No charges were filed in this crash. There will be no further updates.

Drugs Located After Short Pursuit of Seaford Man

Millsboro – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Seaford man for drugs and traffic related charges after a short pursuit that began in Oak Orchard.

The incident began around 10:22 p.m. Thursday September 28, 2017 as a trooper on patrol observed an Oldsmobile Aurora driving erratically on Oak Orchard Road.  The trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop on the car when it turned into a nearby Royal Farms and then fled southbound on Oak Orchard Road.  The car then made a U-turn in the River Mobile Home Park, just off Oak Orchard Road, and then continued northbound on Oak Orchard Road across John J. Williams Highway (SR24) before coming to a stop at the intersection of Mount Joy Road and Townsend Road.  Hashun A. Mitchell, 22 of Seaford, was taken into custody without any further incident.

Just prior to crossing over SR24, Mitchell was observed throwing an object out of his driver’s side window.  This object was later located by troopers and determined to be 1,300 bags (9.1 grams) of heroin.  A search of the Aurora also revealed 1.17 grams of marijuana.

Hashun Mitchell was transported to Troop 4 where he was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal, Resisting Arrest, Driving Under the Influence of a Drug, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and numerous other traffic related offenses.  He was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $38,762.00 cash bond.
