New Castle – State Police, fire personnel, DNREC, and DelDOT, are currently on the scene of tractor trailer fire that has shut down a section of I-295.

The incident occurred around 2:38 a.m. Sunday October 29, 2017 when a tractor trailer carrying construction equipment was traveling northbound on I-95 merging onto I-295 northbound.  For unknown reasons, the tractor trailer struck a construction impact attenuator that was centered between the I-95 and I-295 split before overturning and catching fire.

The 55-year-old male driver from Pageland, South Carolina, was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Christiana Medical Center where his is currently admitted with undetermined injuries.  No charges have been filed at this time.

The fire has caused extensive damage to the roadway and engineers are on-scene surveying any damage to the 141 overpass.

Seaford – The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred on Sussex Highway (US13) south of Seaford this afternoon.

The incident occurred around 12:08 p.m. Saturday October 28, 2017 as a 60-year-old Parsonsburg, Maryland man was operating a 2015 Ford Focus southbound on US13 in the left lane, south of Brickyard Road.  A 29-year-old Laurel man was operating a 2004 Honda Pilot southbound on US13 in the right lane and was in the process of passing the Ford Focus.  For unknown reasons, the Pilot suddenly swerved to the left which caused the left rear of the Pilot to strike the right front of the Focus.  After impact, the Ford Focus was redirected into the grass median where it came to a stop, upright, facing in a southerly direction.  The Honda Pilot rotated counter-clockwise as it slid through the center grass median and began to barrel roll across the northbound lanes before coming to a stop upright in a ditch east of the northbound lanes.

The 60-year-old operator of the Focus was properly restrained and uninjured.

The 29-year-old operator of the Pilot was properly restrained and was initially transported by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital before being airlifted by Lifenet to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor on behalf of the operator of the Ford Focus.  It is unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol are a factor on behalf of the 29-year-old operator of the Pilot.

US13 northbound between Airport Road and Brickyard Road was restricted to one lane for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Milton – Troopers are conducting a death investigation after a body was discovered floating in the Broadkill River this afternoon.

At approximately 12:42 p.m. Saturday October 28, 2017, a couple boating in the Broadkill River, in the area north of Oyster Rocks Road, discovered an empty kayak, a cooler, and then a body floating in the water.  Troopers, Department of Natural Resources Fish and Wildlife Officers, and fire personnel responded to the area where the body was located and secured.

The adult male was removed from the scene and turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science in order to confirm the deceased’s identity and perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Seaford – The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious crash on Sussex Highway (US13) south of Seaford

US13 northbound between Airport Road and Brickyard Road is currently restricted to one lane although full lane closures may occur.  Commuters should expect delays in the area and find alternate routes of travel.

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted robbery at Walgreens in Branmar Plaza Shopping Center, Wilmington that occurred over night.

The incident occurred on , Friday, October 27, 2017, at approximately 8:12 p.m. when an unknown male suspect entered the Walgreens store located at 1812 Marsh Road, Wilmington in the Branmar Plaza Shopping Center.  As a patron of the store was shopping and approaching the cash register to pay for his items, the suspect ran into the business, jumping up and down, yelling that this was a stick up.  The suspect appeared to have gotten scared and did not obtain any items before taking off running towards Marsh Road.  Once outside the business, it appeared that the suspect got stopped by an unknown male subject who was driving a dark colored pick up truck.  A brief struggle ensued and the suspect was able to get away, taking off running towards Marsh Road behind the Acme.

The suspect was described as a black male, 6’00”-6’02” tall, wearing a dark colored hoodie, dark colored pants, light colored shoes and a black ski mask.  No weapons were displayed and no further physical or clothing description available.

Newark – Howard V. Brinn, 93 of Newark, who was the operator of the Toyota Camry involved in the crash which occurred at approximately 7:39 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2017 on Otts Chapel Rd. over top of I-95 in Newark, died today, Friday October 27, 2017, as a result of his injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.

Claymont – Delaware State Police detectives have identified Amy D. Davis, 31, as the suspect wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Wawa, 2621 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont. Davis has been known to frequent motels within the New Castle area as well as the Churchman’s Road corridor. The Hyundai Sonata taken in the carjacking has been located.

Active warrants for Davis’ arrest are currently on file.

Georgetown-  At the request of the Georgetown Police Department, the Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on Monday, October 23, 2017 on South DuPont Highway.

The initial investigation has determined the incident occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m., on Monday, October 23, 2017 when a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by a 27-year-old Dagsboro woman, was traveling southbound on S. DuPont Highway in the left lane, approaching College Park Drive in Georgetown.

The Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the above pictured suspects who are wanted for their involvement in an organized retail theft ring.

Lucius Jones, 50 of Waymart, PA, Maurice McCorkle, 31, of Philadelphia, PA, and Lashanda Anderson, 35, also of Philadelphia, all have active felony warrants on file, stemming from multiple theft incidents that have occurred at Marshall’s locations throughout New Castle County, DE.

On various dates in September and October, 2017, the suspects conspired to steal large quantities of merchandise from the Marshall’s location at 4607 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, as well as the Marshalls located at 4000 Fashion Center Blvd., Newark.

The suspects have been seen occupying a 2012 Mercedes Benz GL4, silver in color, bearing Delaware registration 244719 (similar vehicle pictured below) as well as a red Nissan four door vehicle with unknown registration.
