Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Identifying Burglary Suspect

Milton– The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in connection with a residential burglary.

This incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2017 in the 100 block of Vega Way, Cave Colony.  The suspect depicted in the surveillance photos entered the residence through a side door and once inside stole several items.

**Traffic Advisory** State Police Investigating Crash-Dover

Dover– The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a crash on northbound State Route 1 in the area of exit 91.

The incident occurred around 12:39 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 on State Route 1 northbound in the area of exit 91 (Kitts Hummock Road).  It has been reported that the accident includes a tractor trailer and a vehicle.  It is unknown if there is reports of injuries at this time.

State Route 1 northbound in the area of exit 91 is currently closed.  Commuters should expect delays in the area and find alternate routes of travel.

Dagsboro – The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious crash on Dupont Boulevard (US113) in the area of Parker Lane.

The incident occurred around 11:03 a.m. Tuesday,  November 7, 2017 US113 southbound in the area of Parker Lane.  Injuries have been reported in the crash, however, the exact number and extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

US113 southbound lanes have been completely shut down in the area of Parker Lane.  Commuters should expect delays in the area and find alternate routes of travel.

Troopers Investigating Robbery of a Gas Station – Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery of a gas station that occurred last evening.

The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred around 7:05 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2017, as a male subject armed with a sharp instrument entered the Valero Gas Station located at 20880 Coastal Hwy Rehoboth Beach, DE . The suspect approached the clerk at the counter and demanded cash from the register. The employee complied with the suspect’s demands and the suspect was able to remove an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the store in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described a black male approximately 5’4” to 5’6” tall, wearing dark colored clothing, and armed with a sharp instrument. (no further physical or clothing description available).

Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Subject

 

Bridgeville – The Delaware State Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a wanted subject in connection with a vehicle pursuit.

The incident occurred on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at approximately 6:28 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle traveling Northbound on Coverdale Road north of Hastings Farm Road.  A pursuit ensued and ended when the suspect vehicle struck a utility pole at Fisherman’s Bridge.  The suspect took off on foot and through further investigation was identified as Donshell T Weston, 32 of Seaford.  Weston is currently wanted for Possession of  a Controlled Substance, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Resisting Arrest, and other traffic related charges.

Troopers Investigating a Shots Fired Complaint – Dover

Dover– The Delaware State Police are currently investigating an incident in which shots were fired at Jazzy Jay’s Soul Food Café.

The incident occurred around 12:18 a.m. Sunday,  November 5, 2017 as troopers, along with officers from Cheswold Police Department and Smyrna Police Department responded to Jazzy Jay’s Soul Food Café located at 5409 North DuPont Highway for a report of a large crowd with shots being fired in the area.  When units arrived, the majority of the crowd had dispersed.  Several witnesses were interviewed and confirmed that shots were heard coming from the parking lot of the business, however they were unable to provide any suspect information.  No victims have been identified and there have been no reports of injury stemming from this incident.

This case remains under investigation and the Delaware State Police is requesting any information regarding this incident to contact Lt. G. Windish at 302-697-4454 or 302-698-8453. **Update** Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Suspect

Millsboro– Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate a wanted suspect in reference to a stolen motor vehicle.

The incident occurred on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at approximately 2:18 a.m. when a trooper was patrolling the area of John J. Williams Highway and Banks Road in Millsboro, DE in reference to attempting to locate a stolen motor vehicle out of Millsboro Police Department. The stolen vehicle, a beige 1998 Toyota Avalon was located by the trooper traveling on eastbound John J. Williams Highway and brief pursuit ensued. The vehicle then came to a stop at the entrance to Holly Lake Campground, when the operator jumped out and fled on foot into the camp ground area.

Through the initial investigation, the suspect was identified as 32-year-old, Daniel V. Berquist of Fredericksburg, VA.  Upon further investigation, it has been determined that Berquist is not in fact the suspect that was involved in this incident, although, Berquist is wanted out of Justice of the Peace Court 4 on an unrelated capias.  This case remains under investigation.

Milton- The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a motor vehicle crash on Broadkill Road (Rt. 16) west of Coastal Highway.

The initial investigation has determined the crash occurred at approximately 8:03 a.m. this morning, Monday, November 6, 2017 and involves a single overturned dump truck. As a result of the crash debris from the truck have spilled over the roadway, causing Broadkill Road west of Coastal Highway to be shut down.  No known injuries at this time.

State Police Investigating Robbery of a Tobacco Store – Rehoboth Beach

CaptureRehoboth Beach – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery of a tobacco store that occurred earlier today.

The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred on Sunday, November 05, 2017 at approximately 4:31 p.m., as a male subject, armed with a sharp instrument entered the Cigar & Cigarette World located at 18701 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. The suspect approached a store employee at the counter and demanded money.  The store employee complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled in a south direction. The employee was not injured.

The suspect is described a black male approximately 5’05” tall wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt armed with a sharp instrument. (no further physical or clothing description available).

Troopers Investigating Motor Vehicle Crash-Milford

Milford- Delaware State Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred south of Milford.

The initial investigation has determined the crash occurred at approximately 7:02 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017, as Devin Cifuentes-Velasquez, 21 of Georgetown, was operating a 2005 Nissan 350Z northbound on (U.S. 113) DuPont Boulevard in the right lane approaching the intersection at Fitzgeralds Road. A 1998 Dodge Ram operated by Walter Bauer, 60 of Houston, was stopped for the red traffic light in the right lane. The Nissan 350Z was directly behind the Dodge Ram and subsequently struck the rear which caused the Ram to strike a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, operated by Randi Smith, 35 of Michigan, who was stopped in the left northbound lane of U.S. 113. All vehicles came to a stop just south of the intersection.

Devin Cifuentes-Velasquez was treated at the scene and then transported by EMS to the Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. After evidence revealed he was under the influence, a DUI investigation was initiated and he was subsequently charged with Driving A Vehicle Under The Influence Of Alcohol, Vehicular Assault 2nd, Failure to have Insurance and License in Possession.

Walter Bauer was treated at the scene and then transported by EMS to the Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Randi Smith was not injured.

US 113, DuPont Boulevard northbound just south of Fitzgeralds Road in the area of the crash was impacted for one hour as the crash was investigated and cleared. DNREC and the local Fire Department responded and conducted a clean-up operation of the approximate 20 gallons of fuel that leaked from the truck.
