Troopers Arrest Two For Weapons Charges-Dover

Dover (19904)- Members of the Kent County Drug Unit (KDU), assisted by The U.S. Marshalls Task Force executed a search warrant with the arrest of two suspects.

On Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 at approximately 3:30 a.m. members of the KDU assisted by The U.S. Marshalls Task Force executed a search warrant in the 2200 building of South Street, in the matter of 30-year-old Sylvester Gould Jr. of Newark and 29-year-old Kimberly Martin of Dover.  Upon arrival at the residences, Martin was located and taken into custody without incident.  Gould Jr. was taken into custody at the Royal Farms located at 6 West Lebanon Road, by The U.S Marshalls Task Force just prior to the execution of the search warrant at the residence.

The search of the residence revealed a loaded .40 Caliber Hi-Point Handgun, a hooded mask, and a pair of gloves in a bag together. Several rounds of loose 9mm ammunition were also recovered.

Sylvester Gould Jr. is a person prohibited from possessing a firearm and was subsequently charged for Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited, and Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited. Gould Jr. was also wanted out of the Middletown Police Department for another incident involving a firearm. He was arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $32,000.00 cash bond.

Kimberly Martin was charged with Conspiracy 2nd for aiding Gould Jr. in Storing and Possessing the discovered firearm.  She was arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on $1000.00 unsecured bond.

Bear – The Delaware State Police have identified Jared J. Armbruster, 35, of Bear, as the operator of a Harley Davidson motorcycle, that was killed in a crash that occurred at approximately 3:39 p.m., Monday, January 22, 2018, On DE Rt. 7 (Bear Corbitt Rd.) north of DE Rt. 71 (Red Lion Rd.) in Bear.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact  Cpl. J. Aube of the Collision Reconstruction Unit, by calling 302-365-8483.

Five Arrested in Felton Meth Lab Operation

Felton – The Delaware State Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the manufacturing of Methamphetamine (Meth) at an abandoned residence.

On Monday, January 22, 2018 at approximately 9:25 p.m. members of the Governor’s Task Force unit responded to an abandoned residence located in the 9000 block of Canterbury Road in an attempt to locate 37-year-old David Sharp of Felton who had active warrants out of Troop 3. Through investigative measures, it was learned that Sharp was possibly squatting in the abandoned residence. Upon arrival, unit members made contact with 39-year-old Marlena Korona (Perry) of Felton who was exiting the driveway of the residence. While Troopers were attempting to identify the owners of the residence, 33-year-old Joshua Wilson of Harrington was observed exiting the residence through a second story window onto the roof and was subsequently taken into custody. While at the front door of the residence, 39-year-old Mary Prichard of Dover and 32-year-old Brandi Luciano of Hartly were taken into custody, as they exited.  A search of the residence was conducted and David Sharp was found hiding in a bedroom closet. While conducting a search of the second floor an active meth lab was observed in a bedroom. A member of the Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit (KDU) and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) arrived at the scene and confirmed the meth manufacturing lab was present on the property.  The Little Creek Fire Department and Deldot were also on scene due to the roadway being shut down.  The components used to manufacture meth along with key ingredients in making the drug were safely collected and seized by DNREC.

All five suspects were arrested and transported to Troop 3 without further incident.  Sharp was charged with Operating a Clandestine Laboratory, Drug Dealing, Conspiracy 2nd, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Impersonation.  He was also charged on his outstanding warrant for multiple Theft and Unlawful Use of a Credit Card charges.  He was arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $17,500 secured bond.

Korona (Perry), Wilson, Prichard and Luciano were all charged with Operating a Clandestine Laboratory, Drug Dealing, Conspiracy 2nd, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 7.  Korona (Perry) was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $2,500.00 secured bond.  Wilson was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $16,500.00 secured bond.  Prichard was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $7,000.00 secured bond. Luciano was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $16,500.00 cash only bond.

Canterbury Road in the area of Andrews Lake Road was closed until the scene was deemed safe. No evacuations were ordered as it was determined that there was no immediate hazard to nearby residents.

Middletown – Troopers are currently performing manual traffic control at the intersection of Summit Bridge Road and Boyds Corner / Churchtown Road, Middletown, due to malfunctioning traffic lights.

Traffic is being allowed to proceed north and southbound however there is no cross traffic at the intersection.

DELDOT crews are on scene however there is no estimated time on the repairs being completed.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and are encouraged to seek alternate routes of travel.

If traveling in the area use extreme caution due to decreased visibility and wet roadways.

*UPDATE* Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle Rt. 7 at Rt. 71- Bear

7 and 71

Bear – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing it’s investigation into a fatal motor vehicle crash which occurred earlier this afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:39 p.m., Monday, January 22, 2018, on DE Rt. 7 (Bear Corbitt Road) northbound, just north of DE Rt. 71 (Red Lion Road), Bear.

A 2005, Harley Davidson XLL, operated by a 35 year old Bear man, had just turned left, on to DE Rt. 7 northbound from DE Rt. 71 eastbound, when he lost control of the motorcycle. The operator became separated from the bike, at which time he began to tumble in a northerly direction, before striking the undercarriage and front, left tire of a 2006 Buick Rendezvous, which was stopped in traffic at the red light on DE Rt. 7 southbound, at the intersection with DE Rt. 71. The motorcycle continued to slide in a northerly direction past the Buick, coming to rest on the DE Rt. 7 northbound shoulder.

The operator of the Harley Davidson, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding EMS. Speed is not being considered a factor in the crash. Impairment on behalf of the operator is unknown at this time. Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Buick, a 57 year old Bear woman, was not injured as a result of the collision.

DE Rt. 7 northbound was closed at DE Rt.71 for approximately 2 hours, as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery of Newark Area Gas Station

Exxon 4 and Harmony

Newark (19713) – Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area gas station that occurred overnight.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:58 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Exxon gas station, located at 4600 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark. Two black female suspects entered the business and began browsing, under the premise of making a purchase. Soon after, two black male suspects entered and approached the 55 year old male employee at the sales counter. One suspect displayed a knife, while the second suspect implied that he was armed with a handgun.

Immediately upon being confronted, the employee vaulted the counter and fled the business. All four suspects remained inside at which time they removed an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot, northbound on Harmony Road. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspects could only be described as two black males and two black females, wearing all dark clothing. Additionally, both male suspects had their faces concealed throughout the incident.

Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery-North Wilmington

Wawa 202 and Naamans

Wilmington (19810) – Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place in the parking lot of a Naaman’s Road Wawa yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:07 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2018, in the parking lot of the Wawa, located at 3452 Naaman’s Road, Wilmington. A 24 year old Suisun City, California woman, was walking through the rear parking lot of the Wawa, when she was approached by a black male suspect who displayed a black handgun and then snatched her wallet out of her hand. After obtaining the wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash and personal items, the suspect fled the scene in a four door, dark colored vehicle. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 22-25 years of age, 6’0”, 160-170 lbs, wearing all dark clothing and in possession of a black handgun.

Troopers Make Multiple Arrest in Drug Investigation-Dover

Dover (19904)- Members of the Kent County Drug Unit (KDU), with the assistance of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force (GTF), and Troop 3 Property Detectives concluded a drug investigation with the arrest of three suspects.

On Friday, January 19, 2018 at approximately 6:28 a.m., members of the KDU assisted by the Kent County GTF and T-3 Property Detectives executed a narcotics search warrant in the unit block of Webbs Lane, Alder Park Apartments in reference to a drug investigation involving the sale of heroin.

Upon arrival, Troopers took the following subjects into custody without incident at the residence: 27-year-old Jarad Wilson of Dover, 31-year-old Sean Caldwell of Dover, and 36-year-old Holly McLaughlin of Salisbury Maryland.

During a search of the apartment, .42 grams of heroin and multiple stolen electronic items were recovered.

Jarad Wilson and Sean Caldwell were both charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Conspiracy 2nd.  Both were arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $12,500.00 secure bond.

Holly McLaughlin was charged with Criminal Impersonation.  She was arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Womens Correctional Institution on $250.00 secured bond.
