Troopers Investigating Shots Fired Incident-Harrington

Harrington- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shots fired complaint that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:27 p.m., on Monday, September 24, 2018, when Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 5000 block of Milford Harrington Highway for a shots fired complaint.  Upon arrival, contact was made with a 62-year-old female resident who advised that while she was inside, she heard a vehicle speeding by, followed by a loud popping sound.  Further inspection of her residence led to the discovery of a bullet hole through her front window.  Her 69-year-old husband was also inside of the residence at the time of this incident, and neither sustained injuries.

*Traffic Advisory*-Whiteleysburg Road and Ingram Branch Road Closed Due to Serious Crash-Harrington

Harrington-The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious crash that occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 on Whiteleysburg Road.  As a result of this crash Whiteleysburg in the area of Ingram Branch Road is closed.

Georgetown Man Indicted for Additional Sexual Assaults

Georgetown- The Delaware State Police have indicted 22-year-old Clay Conaway on six additional counts of Rape in the Second Degree.

The Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit began an investigation involving an incident that occurred on June 20, 2018 at a residence in Georgetown.  A 20-year-old female reported that she was sexually assaulted.  Detectives identified Clay Conaway as the suspect.

On August 22, 2018, Conaway was taken into custody without incident. Conaway was transported back to Troop 4 on a warrant stemming from an August 20, 2018 indictment for Rape in the First Degree.  He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $70,000.00 secured bond.

Since Conaway’s arrest, the Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit has identified five additional victims all stating they were sexually assaulted by Clay Conaway.

Two victims stated they were sexually assaulted by Conaway in 2013. One case is from an incident in 2017, and two additional incidents occurred in 2018.

On September 24, 2018, Conaway was indicted on six counts of Rape in the Second Degree involving five separate incidents. Conaway’s next court appearance is currently scheduled for October 1, 2018 at Sussex County Superior Court.

Lincoln – The Delaware State Police have identified Carlos R. Marin-Landa, 28, of Millsboro, as the operator of a Kawasaki 1000cc motorcycle, who was killed in a crash that occurred at approximately 11:23 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, on Cedar Creek Rd., in the area of Heritage Rd., Lincoln.

Delaware State Police Troop 5 and the Seaford Police Department Invites All to the Community Night Out-Against Drugs and Crime

Seaford-Troopers are joining the Seaford Police Department and the Western Sussex Boys and Girls Club for the 27th Annual Seaford Community Night Out-Against Crime and Drugs on Thursday, September 27, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.   There will be free dinners provided by the USDA.  This will be held on the 300 block of Virginia Avenue between the Seaford Police Department and the Western Sussex Boys and Girls Club.  Delaware Night Out gives everyone the opportunity to interact with first responders.

We have a host of invited specialty units and agencies. The Delaware State Police will showcase the Mounted Patrol Unit, the Evidence Detection Unit, the K-9 Unit with a demonstration, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Scuba, SORT, the Command Post, and the  Aviation Unit (weather permitting).   The Chief, the Troop Commander and members of both agencies will be mixing and mingling amidst the event.  Numerous public safety partners will also be highlighted, including, but not limited to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Office of Highway Safety, the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, Sussex County Paramedics, the Division of Consumer Protection, the Citizen Volunteer Corps, Young Marines, Habitat for Humanity, Community Legal Aid, Teen Challenge, and many others.

All are welcomed to come out and enjoy the evening.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash – Lincoln

Lincoln – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that took place late Saturday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:23 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, on Cedar Creek Rd., in the area of Heritage Rd., Lincoln. A 2017 Kawasaki 1000cc motorcycle, operated by a 28 year old Millsboro man, was traveling southbound on Cedar Creek Rd, just south of Heritage Rd., when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road. As a result the Kawasaki traveled off the west edge of the road, with its left side striking a mailbox, causing it to overturn on to its left side. The operator was ejected from the motorcycle, coming to rest in a grassy area off the west side of the road.

The operator was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Speed is being considered as a contributing factor in the crash, impairment is undetermined at this time. Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

Troopers Seek Assistance In Identifying Bank Robbery Suspect

Newark – The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a pair of bank robberies that occurred on consecutive days last week, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

On Tuesday, September 18, 2018 the pictured suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 2011 Concord Pike and presented a demand note to the teller while implying that he was armed with an explosive device. On Wednesday, September 19, he committed a similar robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank located 1424 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle. In each incident he made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery – North Wilmington

Wilmington (19802) – The Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a North Wilmington restaurant that occurred Thursday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Evergreen Chinese Restaurant, located at 3610 Miller Rd., Wilmington. A male suspect, with his face concealed and brandishing a handgun, confronted an employee at the sales counter and demanded cash from the register. The employee complied with the demand by turning over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who then exited the business and was last seen fleeing southbound on foot. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as a male, wearing all dark clothing to include a covering over his face, and in possession of a black unknown make and model handgun.

No surveillance images are available at this time.

Troopers Seek Assistance in Locating Robbery Suspect

Newark – The Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Timothy J. Brewer, 42, of Middletown, who is wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at approximately 8:00 p.m. at the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 284 Christiana Road, New Castle.

Brewer is also wanted by the Middletown Police Department for armed robbery and the New Castle County Police Department for criminal and traffic charges related to a police pursuit.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Brewer is asked to contact Detective B. McDerby of the Troop 2 Robbery Unit at 302-365-8436. Anyone coming in to contact with Brewer is advised not to confront him but to immediately call 911
