Troopers Arrest Seaford Woman on Assault Charges-Lewes

Lewes– The Delaware State Police arrested a Seaford Woman after she struck her boyfriend with her vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:57 p.m., on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, when Troopers were dispatched to the 35000 block of  North Drive, West Bay Park for a report of a domestic.  Upon arrival, Troopers located a 48-year-old male laying on the ground who advised that his leg had been run over by a vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the victim, and his girlfriend, 59-year-old Jacquelyn S. Peruchi had engaged in a verbal argument earlier in the evening.  The argument continued when Peruchi entered her vehicle, put it in reverse and struck the victim who was standing outside.

The victim was transported to the Beebe Medical Center where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries.

Peruchi was taken into custody and transported back to Troop 7 where she was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Assault Second Degree Recklessly Intentional Serious Injury
  • Reckless Endangering Second Degree
  • Disorderly Conduct

Peruchi was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $23,001.00 secured bond.

Troopers Investigating Shots Fired Incident-Seaford

Seaford-The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shots fired incident that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:43 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, when Troopers were dispatched to the 24000 block of Concord Pond Road for a shots fired complaint.  Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with a 26-year-old male who advised that unknown subject(s) had drove by the residence and fired multiple shots.  It was learned that several people were outside the residence, while the homeowner and two children were inside during this incident.  There were no reports of injuries.

Further investigation revealed that two rounds struck the residence, two rounds struck a Kia and a fifth round struck a Chevy Impala, which were both parked at the residence.

The suspect vehicle was described as silver and white newer style car.  No further suspect information could be provided at this time.

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a robbery that occurred at approximately 7:43 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Target department store, located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway, Wilmington. The two pictured suspects loaded a shopping cart with merchandise and then proceeded to exit the store without rendering payment. When a store employee confronted them at the exit doors they pepper sprayed him and then fled into the parking lot.

Troopers Investigating Purse Snatching – North Wilmington

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating a purse snatching that took place in the parking lot of a Kennett Pike shopping center, early Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:33 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 in the parking lot of the Greenville Crossing Shopping Center located at 4011 Kennett Pike, Wilmington. A 77 year old female was loading groceries in to her vehicle when a male suspect approached her from behind, snatched her purse and knocked her to the ground. The suspect then entered a light colored vehicle and fled northbound on Kennett Pike.

The suspect is described as a heavy set male, 20-30 years of age wearing a light colored shirt and pants.

Troopers Investigating Shoplifting Turned Robbery – North Wilmington

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating a shoplifting that turned into a robbery after a store employee was pepper sprayed by the suspects..

The incident occurred at approximately 7:43 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Target department store, located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway, Wilmington. Two female suspects loaded a shopping cart with merchandise and then proceeded to exit the store without rendering payment. Due to the effects of the pepper spray the employee was unable to provide a mode or direction of travel. The employee was treated at an area hospital as a result of the incident. All merchandise was recovered.

The suspects were described as follows:

Suspect 1: Black female, 16-25 years of age, 5’2”, small build, wearing a denim jacket.

Suspect #2: Black female, 16-25 years of age, 5’6”, averaged build, wearing a black jacket.

Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Suspect- Seaford

Seaford- The Delaware State Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the pictured suspect who is wanted in connection with a hit and run crash.

The incident occurred on Monday October 15, 2018 at approximately 3:53 p.m. as members of the Sussex Governor’s Task Force were patrolling the Concord area and observed a red Chevrolet Malibu traveling on Concord Road. Detectives observed that the vehicle had window tint and conducted a registration check which revealed that the vehicle did not have a tint waiver.  Detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle refused to pull over.

As the vehicle continued to flee, it approached the intersection of Old Furnace Road and Middleford Road and attempted to pass a school bus on the shoulder.  The school bus was stopped for the stop sign at the intersection.  The fleeing suspect vehicle struck the right front tire of the school bus causing minor damage to the front wheel of the school bus.  The bus driver along with three occupants were not injured.

The suspect vehicle continued to flee and was located abandoned near Eskridge Road.  Through investigative measures, Troopers identified the driver as 24-year-old Devon T. Morris of Seaford.

Troopers have been unable to locate Morris who currently has active warrants out of Troop 4 for the following:

  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal
  • Reckless Endangering Second Degree (4 counts)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Leaving the Scene of Property Collision Accident
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Other traffic related offenses

Prior to this incident, Morris had an active capias out of Superior Court as well as a warrant from Troop 4 for Resisting Arrest and Reckless Driving.

Woman Threatened with Hammer-Troopers Seek Assistance in Identifying Suspect

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was threatened with a hammer, and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

On Sunday, October 14, 2018 at approximately 4:38 p.m., Troopers responded to the Wawa located at 2030 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, in reference to a male subject threatening a female with a hammer. Upon their arrival they located the 31 year old victim who was still in the parking lot, however the suspect had already fled the scene.

The investigation determined that the victim was in a retail establishment on the Kirkwood Highway when she observed the male suspect, who she believed was following her. She felt uncomfortable with the suspect’s actions so she left the store and drove to the Wawa. As she was driving she observed the male following her in his vehicle. After pulling in to a parking space at the Wawa, the suspect pulled in directly behind the victim, blocking her vehicle. The suspect then approached the victim as she sat in her vehicle and began banging on her window, demanding that she exit the vehicle and talk to him. When she refused the suspect returned to his vehicle and retrieved a hammer which he proceeded to wave at the victim, again demanding she exit her vehcile. The victim remained in her vehicle and the suspect eventually fled onto Limestone Rd. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30-35 years of age, 5’5”-5’9” tall. His vehicle was described as a brown or grey Ford Explorer.

*UPDATE-Victim Identified* Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash – Claymont

Claymont – The Delaware State Police have identified Michael Hastings, 37, of Chester, PA as the person who was killed in a crash that occurred at approximately 5:01 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2018 on Naaman’s Rd. at the intersection with Philadelphia Pike.

Hastings was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by Quentin Womack, also of Chester PA, who is currently wanted for Vehicular Homicide as a result of this crash.

Troopers Charge Delmar Man with Vehicular Assault – Millsboro

Millsboro – The Delaware State Police have charged James N. Cannon, 38, of Delmar with multiple counts of vehicular assault stemming from a DUI related crash in Millsboro on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the intersection of Mt. Joy Rd. and Townsend Rd., Millsboro. Cannon was the driver of a 2009 GMC Sierra pickup truck that was stopped at a stop sign on Townsend Rd., at the intersection with Mt. Joy Rd. A 2007 Toyota Highlander operated by a 34 year old Milford man was traveling southbound on Mt. Joy Rd,, proceeding through the intersection with Townsend Rd., with the right of way. Cannon failed to remain stopped and pulled out directly in to the path of the Toyota at which time the two vehicles collided in the intersection where they came to rest.

The driver of the Toyota along with a 6 year old and 18 month old passenger were transported to Beebe Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 4 year old passenger in the Toyota was transported to AI DuPont Hospital for Children with serious injuries.

Cannon and a 34 year old female passenger in his vehicle were also treated at Beebe Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A second passenger in his vehicle was not injured.

Further investigation determined that alcohol impairment was a contributing factor on Cannon’s behalf and after discharge from the hospital he was transported to Troop 4 where he was formally charged with the following:

  • Vehicular Assault 1st Degree
  • Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree (4 counts)
  • DUI Alcohol
  • Fail to Remain Stopped at a Stop Sign
  • Driving Suspended

Cannon was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and then committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $8600.00 secured bail.
