*Update* Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash- Felton

Felton– The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at approximately 8:14 p.m. when a 2018 Nissan Murano was traveling southbound on S. Dupont Hwy (US 13) in the left lane north of Barney Jenkins Road. A Pedestrian was walking southbound on S. Dupont Hwy (US 13) in the left lane north of Barney Jenkins Road when he was struck by the Murano.  After impact, the pedestrian was thrown onto the southbound shoulder where he came to rest on the edge of the roadway.

The driver of the Murano, a 24-year-old male from Salisbury, Maryland was properly restrained and not injured.

The pedestrian, a 23-year-old male from Dover was wearing all dark clothing without any type of reflective material and not carrying a flashlight.  He was transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital were he was pronounced deceased. His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and the roadway was cleared.

Bear – The Delaware State Police have identified Ricardo Lismore, 29, of Wilmington as the operator of a 2017 Kia Niro, who was killed in a head on crash with a tractor trailer that occurred at approximately 1:24 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 on State Route 1 northbound just south of U.S. 40.

Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on I95-Newark

Newark- The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred earlier today on northbound John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway (I95) north of the Christiana Road off ramp (Rt. 273).

The incident occurred on Friday, November 30, 2018 at approximately 11:38 a.m., when a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo was traveling northbound on I95 and lost control striking the guardrails.  The vehicle continued to spin out of control, striking a 2016 Tractor Trailer and a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe that were also traveling northbound on I95.

The driver of the Aveo, an 18 year old male from Newark was ejected and transported to the Christiana Hospital in serious condition.  He was issued a traffic citation for careless driving.

The driver of the Tractor Trailer, a 36-year-old male from Alabama was not injured.

The driver of the Tahoe, a 46-year-old male from Elkton, MD was not injured.

I95 northbound in the area of Rt. 273 was closed for approximately 1 hour while the crash was investigated and cleared.

*UPDATE-Traffic Advisory* SR 1 Closed Both Directions due to Fatal Crash Involving Tractor Trailer – Bear

Bear – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate a fatal crash involving a tractor trailer that occurred at approximately 1:24 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 on State Route 1 northbound, just south of U.S. 40 (Pulaski Hwy.).

The initial investigation has determined that a 2017 Kia Niro, operated by a 29 year old Wilmington man was traveling SR 1 southbound in the northbound lanes of travel, in the area of the U.S. 40 interchange. A 2010 Kenworth tractor trailer, operated by a 34 year old Harrington man was traveling SR 1 northbound in the left lane, south of the U.S. 40 interchange. The Kia collided head on with the Kenworth, despite the efforts of the tractor trailer driver, to brake and avoid the collision.

After impact, the rear of the Kia lifted in to the air and came to a rest on top of the guardrail separating the SR 1 north and southbound lanes. The Kenworth came to rest in the left lane at the point of the collision.

The driver of the Kia who was not seat belted, was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment on his behalf his undetermined at this time. Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the tractor trailer was seat belted and was not injured. Impairment on his behalf is not a factor.

SR 1 northbound was closed for approximately 6 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. The southbound lanes were closed for approximately 4 hours.

*Traffic Advisory* SR 1 Closed Both Directions due to Fatal Crash Involving Tractor Trailer – Bear

Bear – The Delaware State Police are on scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer that occurred at approximately 1:24 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 on State Route 1 northbound, approximately 1 mile south of U.S. 40 (Pulaski Hwy.).

As a result all lanes of SR 1, both northbound and southbound are closed. Northbound traffic is being diverted and forced to stay on U.S. 13 towards Tybouts Corner. South bound traffic is being forced to exit on to U.S. 40.

The investigation is in the early stages with further details being released as they become available.

*UPDATE-Traffic Advisory* Troopers Investigating Crash Involving School Bus – I-95 Northbound at I-295

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a crash involving a school bus that occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018 on I-95 northbound just south of the of I-295 interchange.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash involves a total of four vehicles, one of which was a school bus that was transporting students from Delcastle Technical High School.

A total of thirteen students on board the bus and two adults from the other vehicles involved were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.

Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.
