*Traffic Advisory* – Troopers investigating serious crash involving a motorcyclist – Stanton

The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene and investigating a serious motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a second vehicle which occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m. this afternoon, Saturday, June 27,  2020, at the intersection of De. Rt. 7 s/b and Laura Drive, Stanton, De. 

As a result of the crash, lanes of travel within this area are temporarily closed.  Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.

Troopers investigating Robbery – Newark

Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at La Favorita Convenience Store in the 600 block of E. Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, De.

The incident occurred on Friday, June 26, 2020 at approximately 4:46 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to La Favorita Convenience Store for a report of a robbery in progress.  Upon arrival, it was learned that a unknown masked Hispanic male entered the business and demanded money from the victim/employee while brandishing both a handgun and knife.  Suspect then removed USC in plain view from under the cash register and fled the store in an unknown vehicle and direction.

Suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 6 foot, average build and being early to mid-twenties.  No clothing description provided.

No injuries to the victim were sustained.

*Update*- Troopers Investigating Serious Crash Involving a Pedestrian on South Dupont Hwy. and Lochmeath Way – Dover

Dover- The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred this morning.

The incident occurred on June 26, 2020, at approximately 8:46 a.m., when a Toyota Highlander proceeded on S. Dupont Highway from the stop light at the intersection with Lochmeath Way, Dover.  A pedestrian, who was a Delmarva Power employee had stopped his vehicle on the southbound shoulder of S. DuPont Highway just south of Lochmeath Way and activated a yellow flashing amber light that was attached to the top of his vehicle. The pedestrian was wearing a florescent yellow safety vest, had left his car parked and began walking north of his vehicle.

The operator of the Highlander indicated that while he was driving southbound, his vehicle began to experience problems.  The operator proceeded to pull onto the southbound shoulder where he subsequently struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 20-year-old male from Wildwood Crest, NJ, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Highlander, a 33-year-old male from New Castle, DE, was transported to the Kent Bayhealth Hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collison Reconstruction Unit.

The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

*Update*-Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on Route 113 at Swamp Rd.-Dagsboro

Dagsboro– The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a serious crash involving three vehicles that occurred this morning.

The incident occurred on June 24, 2020, at approximately 8:00 a.m., when a 2019 KIA Forte was traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard in the left lane approaching the intersection with Swamp Road. A 2014 KIA Sorento was traveling eastbound on Swamp Road crossing the northbound lanes of Dupont Boulevard. A 2010 Nissan Cube was westbound on Swamp Road stopped at a posted stop sign at the intersection of Dupont Boulevard. The operator of the Sorento crossed the northbound lanes of Dupont Boulevard and was struck on the right side by the Forte.  After the impact, the Sorento overturned and the Forte then struck the Nissan. 

The operator of the Forte, a 27-year-old male from Gwynn Oak, Maryland, was not properly restrained.  He was transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.  A female passenger in the vehicle was properly restrained.  She was transported to the Beebe Medical Center with serious injuries.

The operator of the Sorento, a 62-year-old female from Frankford, DE, was properly restrained.  She was transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.

The operator of the Nissan, a 48-year-old female from Dagsboro, DE, was properly restrained.  She was transported to the Beebe Medical Center with serious injuries.

North and Southbound lanes of Dupont Boulevard in the area of Swamp Road were closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police.

Troopers Investigating Home Invasion- Ellendale

EllendaleThe Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion that took place at an Ellendale area residence early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 01:50 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at a residence located on New Hope Rd., Ellendale. Upon arrival, it was reported that multiple suspects made entry into the home and assaulted a 35-year-old female resident by striking her in the head. It is unknown if a weapon was used at this time. While inside the residence, the suspects damaged and removed personal belongings of the victim. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There were two juveniles also inside of the residence during the incident, but were unharmed.

The number of suspects is unknown and there are no descriptions at this time.

Dagsboro- Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash involving multiple vehicles that occurred at approximately 8:01 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at the intersection of Route 113 and Swamp Rd., Dagsboro.

As a result of the crash, Route 113 (DuPont Blvd.) is closed in both directions. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.

New CastleThe Delaware State Police have identified the name of the driver who died in a motorcycle crash between June 21 and June 22, 2020, on Bear Rd. at East Faintail Ct., New Castle, as 53-year-old Johnathan M. Monk of Philadelphia, PA.

Troopers Investigating Shooting Incident-Magnolia

Magnolia-  The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred early this morning.

The incident occurred on June 23, 2020, at approximately 2:39 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to Lambert Drive, Meadowbrook Acers, Magnolia, in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 24-year-old male, of Harrington, DE, had been shot in the stomach.  Further investigation revealed that the male victim had arrived at his acquaintance’s residence and was proceeding to enter when shots were fired from outside, and he was subsequently struck.  The victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There is no suspect information at this time.
