Dover female arrested for Robbery- Dover

Dover- The Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year-old Jamiyla Jackson of Dover, DE, for Robbery and related charges.

On Friday, July 3, 2020, at approximately 1:47 p.m., the Delaware State Police responded to a reported robbery at CITI TRENDS located at 1628 S Governors Ave., Dover. Upon arrival, Troopers contacted a 38-year-old female store employee from Smyrna, DE. The investigation revealed Jackson entered the store with her two 6-year-old sons and began placing children’s clothing into her handbag. When Jackson was approached by the store employee and told to remove the items from her purse, Jackson pushed the employee, causing her to fall into a clothing rack. Jackson then fled the store in an unknown direction with the clothing and her children. The employee was not injured during the incident.

Jackson turned herself into Troop 3, where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • Robbery 2nd Degree (felony)
  • Shoplifting
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 counts)

Jackson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and released on her own recognizance.

Delaware State Police Investigating Double Fatal Collision- Millsboro

MillsboroThe Delaware State Police are investigating a double fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m., on July 3, 2020, on Mount Joy Road east of Lawson Road.

A 2001 Toyota Corolla operated by an 18-year-old man from Georgetown, was traveling eastbound on Mount Joy Road east of Lawson Road negotiating a slight left curve. A 2003 Ford Explorer, operated by a 29-year-old man from Selbyville, was traveling westbound on Mount Joy Road in the same vicinity as the Toyota. For unknown reasons, the Toyota crossed the center line and entered the travel path of the Ford. The operator of the Ford swerved to the right and applied the brakes, which resulted in the front right of the Toyota colliding with the left front side of the Ford. After impact, the Toyota rotated counter-clockwise and came to rest in the middle of Mount Joy Road. The Ford traveled off the north edge of the road and came to rest in the grass.

The operator of the Toyota was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance and was pronounced deceased. He was properly restrained.

The operator of the Ford was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where he was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries. He was properly restrained.

The right-front passenger of the Ford, a 72-year-old male from Millsboro, was transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter where he was pronounced deceased. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.

A female from Millsboro was a rear passenger in the Ford and was properly restrained. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the crash, Mount Joy Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the collision was investigated and cleared.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.

Troopers Investigating a Fatal Crash Involving a Single Vehicle-Dover

Dover- The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a single vehicle that occurred early this morning.

The incident occurred on July 4, 2020, at approximately 3:54 a.m., when a 2004 Saturn Vue SUV was southbound on Bay Road (SR 1) south of Exit 92 approaching the on ramp / merge lane from Exit 92 to (SR 1). For unknown reasons the operator veered off the west edge of the roadway and struck a metal light pole with its front bumper.  After impact, the vehicle continued southbound traveling across the on ramp lane and onto the shoulder striking a concrete barrier and flipping on its roof.

The operator of the Saturn, a 24-year-old female from Frederica, DE, was not properly restrained and was ejected.  She was transported to the Kent Bayhealth Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  Her name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

Bay Road (SR 1) was closed for approximately 4 hours while the accident was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash- Wilmington

Wilmington– The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on July 3, 2020, at approximately 11:39 p.m., when a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling southbound on South Heald Street from the city of Wilmington. South Heald Street is dark and has no artificial lighting in the area. A pedestrian was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of South Heald Street from the west side of the roadway to the east. The pedestrian entered directly into the path of the Tahoe and was subsequently struck.

The operator of the Tahoe, a 45-year-old male from Wilmington, DE remained on scene.  He was properly restrained and not injured.

The pedestrian, a 24-year-old male from Newark, DE was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

South Heald Street north of Rogers Road was closed for approximately 2 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Old Landing Road and Fairway Drive- Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2020, on Old Landing Road and Fairway Drive.

The initial investigation has determined a 2011 Mazda 6, operated by an 86-year-old Rehoboth Beach, DE woman, was traveling westbound on Old Landing Road behind a 2010 Lexus RX350 operated by a 17-year-old Camden, DE man. A vehicle traveling ahead of the Lexus slowed to turn right into Fairway Village, causing the Lexus to slow down. The Mazda 6 was following too closely and struck the rear of the Lexus within the westbound lane. After striking the Lexus, the Mazda 6 continued traveling west off the north edge of the roadway, where it struck a utility pole with the front end.

The Mazda operator was not properly restrained and was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The operator of the Lexus and his passenger were uninjured.

Old Landing Road was closed for approximately 1 hour while the scene was investigated and cleared.
