Troopers Investigating Shots Fired Incident-Smyrna

Smyrna- The Delaware State Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on September 3, 2020, at approximately 11:24 p.m., when Troopers responded to a residence on East Redbrook Place, Smyrna, in reference to a shots fired complaint.  Upon arrival, it was learned that two occupants were in the residence, a 70-year-old male and a 33 year-old male, who were seated in the living room when a loud noise was heard. Further discovery revealed that the first floor of the residence had been struck by multiple bullets. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

There is no suspect information at this time.

Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Charges for Frederica Man- Felton

Felton- Delaware State Police arrested 21-year-old Bruce S. Patricella of Frederica on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on September 2, 2020.

At approximately 12:43 p.m., a trooper conducting a proactive patrol in the area of Walnut Shade Road, Woodside, observed a white Toyota Camry operating with an expired registration. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle on Barney Jenkins Road, and contact was made with the 46-year-old male operator from Frederica and passenger, Patricella. Upon contact, Patricella provided a fictitious name to the trooper, but his identity was later confirmed through a computer check. Based on information obtained during the interaction with the operator and Patricella, a search was conducted of the vehicle.

Located in the vehicle was the following:

  • (1) Buprenorphine Hydrocloride pill
  • (5) Buprenorphine Hydrocloride with Naloxone Hydrocloride pills
  • (39)  Amphetamine pills
  • (1) Adderall pill
  • (37) Amphetamine Dextroamphetamine pills
  • (1) Amphetamine Dextroamphetamine pill

Through investigative measures it was determined the drugs belonged to Patricella. He was taken into custody and transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (2 counts-felony)
  • Criminal Impersonation
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Patricella was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $21,200.00 cash bond.

The operator of the vehicle was charged with traffic violations and released.

Millsboro Woman Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop- Millsboro

Millsboro- Delaware State Police have arrested 35-year-old Amber N. Monroe of Millsboro on drug charges following a traffic stop.

On September 2, 2020, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Delaware State Police observed a red Dodge Durango traveling southbound on Long Neck Road, approaching School Lane, following a motor vehicle too closely. A traffic stop was conducted, and contact was made with Monroe, who was the driver and sole occupant. Based on information obtained during the interaction with Monroe, a search was conducted of her car. Located in the vehicle were approximately .67 grams of methamphetamine, approximately .14 grams of heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

Monroe was transported to Troop 7 where she was charged with the following:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (3 counts)
  • Following a Motor Vehicle too Close

Monroe was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and released on her own recognizance.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Accident- New Castle

New Castle– Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on September 2, 2020 at approximately 11:15 p.m.

The initial investigation has determined a 2012 Porsche Panamera operated by a 30-year-old female of Wilmington was traveling westbound on Christiana Road (Route 273) entering the right turn lane for the ramp to Delaware State Route 1 northbound. The 36-year-old male pedestrian of New Castle entered the right turn lane from the north edge of roadway into the path of the Porsche. As a result the front right of Porsche collided with the pedestrian. The Porsche came to a controlled stop in the right turn lane several feet after impact. The operator was not injured during the collision.

Identification is pending notification of next to kin.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact Cpl. Forester of the Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit by calling 302-365.8485.

The roadway was closed for approximately 2 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Delaware State Police Attempting to Identify Attempted Burglary Suspect- Bridgeville

 

Bridgeville- Delaware State Police is seeking the publics assistance with attempting to identify the suspect who is wanted in an attempted burglary of the Bighumidor Cigar Store located at 18473 Sussex Hwy., Bridgeville, DE. 

At approximately 2:40 a.m. on August 14, 2020, the suspect attempted to force entry into the business before fleeing in a dark-colored vehicle. The suspect is described as a heavyset black male with a receding hairline. He was wearing all dark clothing and no shoes.

Selbyville– Delaware State Police have identified the name of the of the individual who died in a crash on August 31, 2020, on  southbound DuPont Boulevard (US 113) .4 miles south of McCabe Road, as 45-year-old Jerome Ayres Jr. of Frankford, DE.  Ayres was transported from the scene to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Troopers arrest Maryland Man on Weapon and Drug Charges following Traffic Stop- Lewes

Lewes- Delaware State Police have arrested 21-year-old Timothy Savoy Jr. of Clinton, MD for weapon and drug charges following a traffic stop.

At approximately 10:49 p.m. on August 1, 2020, a trooper was on routine patrol traveling southbound on Coastal Highway in the area of Savannah Road, Lewes, when a Red Hyundai was observed traveling northbound speeding. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle and a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.  Contact was made with the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old female from Accokeek, MD, and front seat passenger, identified as Savoy, and a criminal investigation ensued.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and the following items were located:

  • Approximately 64.48 grams of marijuana
  • Loaded Polymer 80 handgun
  • Nine 9 millimeter bullets
  • One .223 caliber bullet
  • Drug Paraphernalia

Savoy was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 7 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited (felony)
  • Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited (felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (civil violation)

Savoy was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and released on $20,150.00 unsecured bond. The driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket for Speeding in Excess of Posted Speed Limit and released.

Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Crash- Selbyville

Selbyville–Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:53 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2020, on southbound DuPont Boulevard (US 113) .4 miles south of McCabe Road.

The initial investigation has determined a 2002 Lexus RX300, driven by a 45-year-old Frankford man, was traveling southbound on DuPont Boulevard. For unknown reasons, the operator lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the east edge of the roadway and continuing traveling for approximately 250 feet through the center grass median.  The Lexus then reentered the roadway crossing both lanes of travel before exiting the west edge of the roadway and struck a cluster of trees. The vehicle came to rest on the west edge of the roadway. The operator was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased.

Identification is pending notification of next to kin.

Southbound DuPont Boulevard was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Investigating Robbery of Drug Store – Wilmington

Wilmington- The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a CVS located in Wilmington, DE.

The incident occurred on August 30, 2020 at approximately 10:55 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the CVS located at 4020 Concord Pike, Wilmington for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was learned that the suspect approached an employee in the store and displayed a handgun. The suspect then walked the employee to a rear office where the store manager was located and demanded cash from the safe. The suspect then fled the store back out of the front door with an undisclosed amount of money. There were other customers inside of the store at the time of the incident, but no one was aware of the robbery.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

There are currently no photos of the suspect available at this time.

The suspect was described as a male who was wearing all dark clothing to include a face mask and sunglasses.  The suspect was approximately 5’08” tall, and approximately 25-35 years old.

Delaware State Police Arrest Magnolia Man on Weapon Charges Following Traffic Stop- Magnolia

Magnolia-Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Hershial L. Morris of Magnolia, DE, on weapon charges following a traffic stop.

On August 30, 2020, at approximately 2:12 p.m., troopers on patrol in the area of Walnut Shade Road and Barney Jenkins Road observed a teal Buick Century traveling westbound with the operator later identified as Morris, not wearing his seatbelt. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, and located in plain view was a loaded .22 CAL Smith & Wesson handgun. Morris and two juvenile passengers were detained without incident, and a criminal vehicle ensued.

Located in Morris’s vehicle during a search was the following:

  • Loaded .22 CAL Smith & Wesson handgun 
  • 24 rounds of ammunition
  • approximately 2 grams of marijuana.

Morris was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited (felony)
  • Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited (felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana (civil violation)
  • Driving while Suspended
  • Seatbelt Violation (civil violation)

Morris was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #7 and released on his own recognizance. The two juveniles were not charged and released to their guardians.
